Thanks, I will try both of these ideas as soon as it stops raining, and the sun comes out again. Boat was hauled out two days ago and I'm waiting for some decent weather to get it cleaned up.

genoa staining
I have been trailing my 26x for many years with the furled genoa tied to the mast. After a while I noticed that the side of the UV strip on the leech and foot, that was on the outside when furled, had a continuous black stain. Apparently this is from rubbing on the aluminum mast (same discoloration ...

Re: LOVE THE X - HATE THE TRAILER
My 97X has bottom paint, but don't consider this to be a problem. The boat will never load correctly, because as someone said, the angle to the winch is not correct. However, after the ballast drains and I get on flat ground I do the bump at about 10 mph. If it doesn't come all the way to the v-bloc...

Re: Step for marina boarding?
I use a plastic two step ladder that can be bought at Target, Walmart, etc. for under $20. I screw mine to the dock, but you can also take it with you.

Mac 65
In this month's issue of Seaworthy, ( a magazine sent to boaters insured bu Boat/US) there is a pic of a Mac 65 in Galveston TX sitting upright on a concrete pier, against a seawall. The owner had stayed aboard in a marina during hurricane Ike. The boat broke loose, went up against the seawall and w...

Re: Question of the day #4
If you are afraid to walk on the deck of your 25, it may have a waterlogged core. My 25 never had much give to it, but I have been on another that felt like I would fall thru.

Re: Bad Luck
I've been on the Mac lists starting with Sailnet for at least 15 years, so when I bought my 97x I knew the steering was a weak point. Fortunately someone on the Sailnet list had just posted a mod for an emergency steering handle. I made one immediately but fortunately have not had to use it. It is a...

Re: small wires
It's funny that I never thought of a terminal strip, as I have them in other places on the boat. It will work very well in this particular place.

Re: small wires
Thanks for the advice, I will go ahead and solder the wires. Do you ever put connectors in the line so you can pull out the equipment without having to cut the lines. If so where do you get the connectors?

small wires
I just installed a new radio and want to hook it up with my GPS. The wires are very small diameter, much less than the 18-20 ga. that is sold in the marine stores. What is the best way to join these wires. Never saw a wire nut small enough. Any other choice other than soldering?

Re: interesting steering issue
Stainless steel nuts and bolts tend to gall very easily when tightened. If they do, they can become impossible to remove short of sawing them off. I always use anti- seize on them to prevent this.

Re: 26X Mast Support Roller
My 97 is the same and I don't tighten the nut. It still does not roll worth ***. I agree it is the only part of raising the mast that I do not want to do by myself. I should have modified it long ago, maybe your comment will get me going.

Re: Raising the outboard
Jim, I have a 97. It has the v shaped rudder bar with a flat bar welded to it parallel to the transom. This problem is peculiar to the Honda because it has the projection where the cables attach.
