Oh my! Reminds me of us starting out sailing before we got our 26x. We had a Catalina C-22. Great boat. The winds on mountain lakes can be flaky. One minute it's light and variable, the next it's 40knts. Without sailing experience and knowing what to expect from a sailboat we'd pull the sails down a...

We're at the guest dock at Callville Marina. Been here a couple of days and no sign of active construction at the main launch. The good news is boats much bigger than the 26 are still launching ok. The white ones seem to launch faster than the blue ones :) The dock on the left seems the deeper one n...

Wow... I thought I was busy. Here's my meager list. Some wouldn't qualify as mods but it's easy to throw money at a boat after purchase.

Wow... That's gotta be dissapointing. I've seen mine bend off heavily to either side of the bow when raising or lowering. Never considered that it could break. I've since started securing it to the mast when raising or lowering, but only to avoid the manhandling aspect. Doesn't CDI offer a lifetime ...

Hey Duane. I'm pretty sure I'm not overfilling. After a filling I stand the canister on its side, let any excess fuel out, then wipe down and let it air for a moment. Besides, the stove was used the night before for dinner and some heat. We're pretty cautious in that regard and like you never experi...

Certainly, it was an unsettling experience (at best). Great advice on contacting Origo for further investigation. It's harder for me now to just replace the stove and not know what happened, and if I do learn the cause, how is is prevented in the future. I'll post any useful responses here. Thanks, ...

Origo Stove Fire
We had a bit of a scare on our last outing and one that involved the use of the fire extinguisher. Until last weekend our Origo single burner stove performed flawlessly. This was the model that came with the Mac when we bought her new in '02. We were boating on a mountain lake for the past week. The...

Lets not forget the Odin, previously the Mast 28. What would be telling is to see the sales numbers in the US for this model. Once the new boat is produced marketing is everything. I would have never learned of the Odins existance if not for Heath's site. Deac has a website. http://mysite.verizon.ne...

Hey Randy - I googled this lake and WOW. Every photo I came across showed some wind on the water... probably from Kansas. Looks like a great destination!

Thanks for the responses all! We're always on the lookout for new places to see. Rich, This spring might work out very well for us to sail to the Channel Islands. We'll have to touch base early next year. Dave, Thanks for the heads up on the dogs. We travel in the same pack as them and they love boa...

Trailer Sailing anyone?
One of the best attributes of the Mac is the ability to explore other states and bodies of water. How far do you typically travel from home for your vacation? We find ourselves going all over the West. Even Idaho has a couple of lakes worthy of a sailing destination. I've finally got some photo's po...

Ours is named Saylor - but other folks turn around when I'm calling him. He love's the whole sailing scene. A bit large for a boat dog though. I should have had a clue last year when I saw those big puppy feet.

My boat was purchased new through Paul Bradshaw at Great Basin Sailboats, SLC Utah. No nonsence, no speels. He was excellent to do business with and we received not only a fantastic price but great service. I replace the steering on my own and once he found out, he had Macgregor re-imburse me. His n...
