I have a Merc 60 four-stroke. It is an absolute piece of blank. It has never worked right. It is a 2002 model which has carbs. It had an overheating problem which got worse and worse. Finally it was traced to a manufacturing defect. It was fixed but I still paid the tab regardless that it was under ...

Cool boat. Too bad its an M - LOL.

Methinks I want those sails.

Of course I'm too lazy to take proper care of them and they'd probably last about 6 months.

Those pictures were taken off Anclote Key. About 6 nm from the homestead. These islands are uninhabited state parks about 2 to 3 nm off the coast west of the Tampa area. On weekdays they are mostly deserted except for the summer. On weekends the hordes arrive. But everyone is nice and it is a great ...

Have Mac make a folding Triamaran (like the telstar 28) of about 30 feet, 18 foot beam when folded out. Build it sturdy, but on the cheap to keep the price low. Put a shower aboard, and space to put a portable generator/airconditioning system. Or... put the M sail on the X hull, like I did. http://i...

Lazy Jacks

Now that I have a full battened mainsail I've been thinking about getting some lazy jacks.

Any of you who have lazy jacks:

1. Are they worth it?

2. How well do they work?

3. Anyone have a better system for quick mainsail setting up and stowing then lazy jacks? :?:

I doubt the slides have much of an effect. Ever see vortex generators on a wing? Some things that make aerodynamic sense don't make common sense. For all I know the net effect of slides is positive in this application... or not. Anyway, I read all the above posts and basically you could go on and on...

A few things: 1. I have a new Jib, not a jenny. It is an X jib, which I guess is the same as a M Jib. 2. I have a fully battened mainsail with four battens made by doyle, who I guess makes the stock sail, but this one seems much better made. 3. Doesn't an "M" mainsail have a larger area? L...

Well, I replaced lines, put in lines aft, and a bunch of stuff. It added up to $2600. But I think only about $1500 was materials and labor for the conversion. Now I also spent a $1000 on a new sail. I had to buy one anyway as the old one was beat. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y299/donsbar/edited...

Green is for the main, red is for the headsail. Right now my jib is roller furled so I tie the red one to the fore as a backup fore stay. The guys at Gateway put a rope that I have connected for a loose backstay. I can tighten it when running downwind. Probably overkill. My last sail did not have sl...

Macgregor 26X with "M" rig

I finally got my boat mast and sail replaced after it got damaged by my stupidity and a hurricane. Anyway, my X now has an M rig and I took it out for a little sail yesterday. Now I have not sailed in a while as my boat has been broke since last September. BUT - it really seemed to scream with the n...

The Macgregor 26X is a great boat. Don't let any one of the morons out there tell ya different. There are lots of shoals around where I sail. I cannot tell ya how many times I've seen "real sailboats" run aground, or moored far away from where they would like to be. meanwhile I can sail ac...

Leave a bra or underwear not belonging to your wife on your boat.

When your wife finds it she will tag along with ya in the future to keep an eye on you.
