Re: 98X wants 90hp or not?
So I'm thinking about repowering my 98 26X with a DF90A. I talked to a dealer yesterday at the Tampa Boat Show and they asked what the boat was rated for by the manufacturer. All the documentation I have says 50 HP. The dealer said they would need a letter from the manufacturer to authorize putting ...

WD40 is a solvent, not a lubricant despite what most people think. I don't think it is a good idea for this.RussMT wrote: Probably a good idea for all butane stoves. I wonder if a shot of WD40 (in my tool kit) would work.

Re: More than 50 % of stove fires are alcohol stove fires
I have used a butane stove many many times with only one issues, basically the same as mentioned above, small leak from the seal when putting a new canister in caused a huge flare up, VERY quick action managed to stop any explosion and I had followed the instructions and was using it outside or els...

Re: So do you have any trips planned already and ...
My sailing has been limited lately to the occasional day sail due to being so busy at work. But we are off on a new adventure. We are moving the product line that I run from CA to our factory in Tampa, FL so the Seven C's is living up to its name. It is moving to the Gulf of Mexico after spending 3 ...

Re: The actual odds of being hit by lightning
Saw one of my dockmates (a big metal trawler) get hit once when we were in Portsmouth RI. The main part of the storm was still a few miles away and we were getting ready to hunker down. My wife was just to step onto a metal gangplank down to the dock when it hit with a large BOOM. Scared her half to...

Re: Coastal Sailing Capabilities
Macs regularly go off-shore 20nm to Catalina Island in California and 15nm out to Block Island in Rhode Island. I've done Block Island single handed many times without issue, once coming back in some pretty snotty weather. I did Catalina for the first time single handed a couple of weeks ago. The bo...

Latest word is that the CG has suspended the search and now believes it to be a hoax. No details yet on how they came to that conclusion.

While I feel for those affected, what were they thinking? 60+ miles off shore with young children n a 29ft boat during small craft advisories with no GPS, EPIRB or life raft.

Re: Who here actually keep up to date sail logs?
Well, Charlie...if you posted better logs I wouldn't have missed your trek out west...... Work related I presume? Wasn't it AL last time? Stephen, Yeah, haven't posted much lately and actually just changed my profile when I posted this. I've been out in CA for about 1.5 years, lost the job in Atlan...

Re: Who here actually keep up to date sail logs?
I started one when I first started sailing, but stopped after about 2 seasons. I do keep every GPS track of every sail and have them in a folder on my computer and a binder with printouts. The printouts sometimes have notes on them about unusual weather or events during the sail.

Gary,
The water bags in the X are standard collapsible camping water containers. You should be able to buy them at any Wal-Mart (or the British equivalent) for much cheaper than putting a Y in the line. I've had to replace mine once or twice in 12 years.

Re: Personal (SAILING) Websites
I use DotEasy for http://cfcassidy.com. It is about $100 for 5 years to register a domain through them, and includes website hosting and email. They have tools to build the website, although I use NetObjects Fusion to build my own and FTP it up to the web server.

Re: MAC 26X winch questions - Lewmar 6
I've done this and as others have noted it is very straightforward. Here is a pointer to the Lewmar manual which has pictures and should give you some confidence. Good luck.
