Re: Washing machine?

Plastic bucket and a toilet plunger as an agitator works for me.

Sail battens

Hi folks,
I would appreciate it if somebody might be able to tell me where to purchase sail battens for my original Doyle mainsail. I have a 2001 26X and lost a batten. I am in Newfoundland and would prefer to purchase in eastern Canada but I am open for suggestions.
Much thanks
Rick

Seized Steering

I still have the old rack and pinion steering on my 01X and every year, after the winter, my steering is seized. I always grease the shaft that goes into the sleeve at the aft end. I always manage to free it up but I was wondering if there is anything I could do to prevent this from happening or is ...

Methyl hydrate( methyl alcohol )

Can I use methyl hydrate in my origo stove? Called origo and they said not to use it but other forums suggest otherwise. Do not seem to be able to find denatured alcohol in my area. Would appreciate some feedback on what others use as a substitute.
Thanks

Batteries

Hi folks I did all maintenance on the boat prior to launch, including charging the batteries about 3 weeks ago. I launched yesterday and now it will not start. When I checked the voltage it was 10.60 The batteries were new with the boat in 2001. How long would be normal for a battery to last being u...

Kicker Motor Size

Hi folks, As my 2000 Honda 50 ( 2001 26X ) ages, I am feeling the need to add a kicker and would welcome any thoughts you all might have as to best hosepower. Keeping in mind that I am boating in Trinity Bay, Newfoundland and would possibly need to push boat into strong wind and wave conditions. I w...

Re: Are Boomkicker useful?

Best money spent on the boat. Do not know if it improves sailing charactaristics but in light air it prevents the boom from jumping around.
Long may your big jib draw.

Try Gulfport Municipal Marina. Good ramp and decent place to live aboard.

New Jib.

Hi Folks
I find myself in need of a new Jib for my X. Does anyone know of somewhere on the east coast where I might be able to get one?
Thanks in advance for any help that might be forthcoming.
