Re: Loose Pedestal
The "looseness" i experienced was actually at the bolt to pedestal connection throught the metal "L" bracket, the "L" bracket connection to the deck was firm and secure... I am guessing the fibregrass holes in the pedestal are going oblong from strain. Things are tight ...

Loose Pedestal
The pedestal on our 2001 MacX started getting wobbly this year... I noticed the wobbliness as I manuvered myself around it several times, each time grabbing the boom crutch for support. I tightened the 4-bolts that attach it to the 'L' brackets on the deck. The bolts were quire loose, they didn't ba...

Re: Minimum Speed Required to Empty Ballast Tank
If you can attain the speed of 88MPH you can travel back in time and empty your ballast before you had the problem with your throttle... just a suggustion.

Re: Shiny Boat Leads to Mayfly Mass Suicide...
I looked at Poliglow's website and in my humble opinion Vertglas and Poliglow appear to be nearly the same thing. The application equipment, instructions, color and quantity of liquids appear to be very similar. I imagine one company may have capitalized on the research of the other... I would surmi...

Shiny Boat Leads to Mayfly Mass Suicide...
In the last few weeks I have finished restoring the finish on my 2001 :macx: by using the Vertglas restoration system, I meant to post some pictures but I lost my phone, which contained the final pictures of the boat, into the Chesapeake on our first sail of the season on Sunday. I will post some pi...

Re: Need to replace the centerboard line....
I have a 2001 26X with the standard trailer and I too was able to drop the board while on the trailer. As I remember it the trailing edge of the centerboard just barely passes over the front edge of one of the carpeted supports. I would agree that if the boat had not been pulled all the way up, it w...

Re: Making An Old Boat New...
So we put her in the Bay today. The white is bright and shiny and the black is uniform and shiny also. The boat looks fantastic! The oxidation remover is a nice smelling fine grit which is applied with a plastic scouring pad. The washing step works well to remove the oxidation. I only gound one area...

Re: Need to replace the centerboard line....
I was able to drop mine while on the trailer. As I remeber things the hardest part was getting the bracket to come free from the boat since it was so covered in white 5200 sealant. Ater dropping the bracket it was easy to pull the centerboard. I taped a new line on to the end of the old one and pull...

Making An Old Boat New...
This spring our 2001 26X is getting a fiberglass make over. For the next 2-weekends I'll be scrubbing and polishing the decks. After long consideration we've decided to go with the Vertglas system to remove oxidation, clean and then seal the fiberglass. If I went solely off Internet recommendations ...
