Congratulations and enjoy. Keep us posted on your experiences, there seems to be some serious sailors using MACs in the UK.

Re: Pulled the trigger
Congratulations - you should experience quite a range of feelings - from sheer joy as she sits there quietly in the water awaiting your hand at the helm to wide-eyed "thrill" when she lays over to about 30 degrees and you wonder if she is going any further, but you will always appreciate t...

on edit: Please note this forum is not the place to make, discuss or solicite offers for boat sharing. I will not go into the liability issues and I will end this thread if I see anyone attempting to sell or barter equipment or services here. All commercial transactions including those of zero value...

Re: Guess I gunked up my carbs again
I would charge up the battery, dump the old gas and get a couple gals of high test and try cranking - if it doesn't start shortly, look at electrical, fuel supply, vent closed on the tank - my d@mn I can't believe I did that again - etc. but it should at least try and start if it ran ok last fall. T...

Re: Mast was struck by Lightning
if you are sure they are right, look for a possible path down the daggerboard, and any exit points that could open up the hull's integrity. But if your motor starts and runs well and your electronics do the same and they continue to do so, then maybe it just looked like you were struck. The short an...

Re: Arthritis in hands-5/16ths or 3/8ths sheets better?
I too have that "maturity mechanism" and while I do not have difficulity with the line sizes, I do find that my hands will occassionally cramp up and I have to beat and massage them back into operation. My doc says it is dehidration, I don't necessarily buy it, but I haven't discovered a b...

Re: Help! MR (electrical) WIZARD
OK I'll add my two cents (for that is likely what it is worth). Make a long test lead - about 10 ft or so with a clip on one end and on the other end, a way to attach it to the negative test lead or terminal of your meter (black is usually the negative lead). Clip it on your battery's negative termi...

Re: Arch with Davits, Would you buy it?
WW ........ Are you contemplating more than 2 vertical struts .... I was thinking of 2 seperate arches, one at the stern that added various utilites there and one around the cabin hatchway that would double/triple as a dowser frame, mid-mast support, and get the traveller out of the cockpit. I also ...

I do not see anything wrong with this post up to this point, and as mentioned if you and your friend do decide to take it to the next step, it would be appropriate to advertise it here to help support the site . On a personal note - as always I am keenly aware of the broad expanse of experience alo...

Re: Replace Ring Dings
There is a lot of information on this in the archives , there is even a tool described that you can make in a few minutes. You can also search on rigging and turnbuckles and see quite a few threads on people who have and those who feel that turnbuckles may cause bends in the wire if you put the mast...

....I started motor-sailing last season, like the big keel boats..... even in light air. .....I'm wandering over to a different thread now.... Perhaps but you started with crossing my big lake where I can seldom run WOT more than 5 miuntes due to the waves and chop and wandered to where I also have...
