From what I see from the comments the water ballast tank is drained while motoring. At slow speeds this make the boat lighter and more susceptible to the effects of cross winds and current. Wouldn't it then be better to leave tank full for low speed manuvering?

Re: Crosswinds and docking
Do you have the center board and rudders down to help maintain direction in cross winds and current?

Re: Trailer: Rotten woods
I got new trailer bunks online from Amazon. Treated wood fully marine carpeted, high quality and not very expensive. Sawed to size, drilled holes and used stainless steel bolts. Looks better than the originals.

Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X
Why are you using black tape rather than paint? Tape dulls after a short time and cannot return to original finish. I have experienced dull tape on my motor homes and had it replaced with paint.

Re: Tow boat, slip to ramp DONE
Finally got assistance from my bottom cleaning service. Cost a bit for tow but well worth it. Once in parking area got help from son and Granddaughter. Now waiting for scheduling to install new motor. Weather perfect, full sun, blue sky, temp in mid 60's, nice breeze. Great sailing weather all year ...

Re: New 20 horsepower outboard
My new 60HP Honda cost about $10,000 including all necessary cables accessories and installation. Pre tariff motor. Outboard motors are ridiculously expensive. Good luck in your search for a good used motor. Try to avoid one that has been used primarily in Salt water.

Some day you may want to sell your Mac; think about resale; would you want to buy a Mac with 20 HP?

Re: Tow boat, slip to ramp
This is what the Boat US internet shows. Looks like the Gold Plan would work for me. The person I spoke with before was quite abrupt and did not give me this option. If I break down at my dock, does my BoatUS Towing Service still work for me? BoatUS Towing Service is meant for tows resulting from br...

Re: Tow boat, slip to ramp
Boat towing insurance has a big caveat: it only covers towing if the boat is on open water. Since my boat is safely in a slip I have to pay out of pocket. I checked with the local boat towing that works with BoatsUS. they want $375 per hour with a 2 hour minimum.
