Re: Slowly making forward progress lol
Good Day Everyone! Finally feeling a bit more myself after my long hospital stay, and with that and having more energy I am ready to move forward on boat stuff! I ordered and received the correct fuel line fitting to connect to the Mercury fitting on the engine. I am holding off however on filling t...

Re: Slowly making forward progress lol
@Russ @OverEasy Thanks for the great advice guys, I will definitely give it a good going through! I was given a gas tank yesterday with hose. However it doesn't have the right end on it to hook to the Mercury motor. I found the correct end on Amazon and will order one to swap out the hose end. The b...

Re: Cockpit Drain Screen?
Lots of springtime tree jizz falls on my uncovered boat, so I added the screen-type drain to my 26S. The drain hole is too close to the edge, so the screen didn't cover well. And it's fragile, so I was constantly reshaping it. In the end it worked waaay too well, clogging much faster than the origi...

Slowly making forward progress lol
Good Morning everyone, I hope you and your boats are doing well! I have been trying to get out and work on our boat, but life keeps throwing curve balls lol. However I got a major step forward on Monday evening. Was talking sailboats to a friend of mine I was doing some work with, and mentioned I st...

Re: Cockpit Drain Screen?
This looks like it should work well. Roger should have put something over that drain. Most boats I've seen have screens over the scuppers. https://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/download/file.php?id=582&t=1 Thanks Russ, this part should show up today and excited to try it out. I have been stall...

Re: Cockpit Drain Screen?
Pushing the blockage back up into the cockpit will work better than trying to push it further into the drain. The drains on the X are a lot shorter but they appear to work the same way. Good luck! Thanks Bill, I will give that a try, the trick is getting to the drain on the bottom while sitting on ...

Re: Cockpit Drain Screen?
Had to get pic of drain, Here is where my cockpit drain is, it goes straight down and through hull at the back end of the keel trunk. I ordered a 1" stainless drain cover with slots in it from Amazon to see if it will help...

Cockpit Drain Screen?
My Cockpit Drain has no screen in the drain hole just before the companion way hatch. It has plugged and isn't draining. Working on using hand pump to drain the water and my arms are tired lol... So 2 questions. 1) How would you fine folks suggest clearing the clog , which is small leaves and debris...

Re: Mission Bay Aquatic Center Keel Boat 1
Sounds like you had a good time, and got a lot out of the class! Glad to hear it :) , I took a 3 day keel boat 1 class here in Seattle and had a blast! Like you I gained a lot more confidence then I had going in. I think it's awesome they let you dock under sail, our marina did not allow that so all...

Re: Cockpit Drain
I finally got the boat level and the water to go forward to the cockpit drain, turns out on the '79 V22 the drain exits through at the rear of the keelfin trunk, up inside above the fin.

Re: Tomorrow is First time raising mast and rigging our V22
That sounds about right. It also sounds easier than it probably really is, especially walking the mast up. I did it that way when I was much younger. You will want help keeping an eye on the shrouds as you go up, since you can’t really just stop and clear any fouling that might occur. A second pers...

Tomorrow is First time raising mast and rigging our V22
I am about to raise the mast for the first time tomorrow and I am figuring rigging our 79 V22. Here is my understanding of the rigging for both standing rigging and running rigging so far, please folks chime in with any corrections if I am in error anywhere. Halyards are in place on the mast, and to...
