Re: Missing Topping Lift and Boom vang
On previous sailboats I've always had a topping lift and boom vang. I started to think 26M had a secret that didn't require a topping lift or boom vang. Took advice so far and have picked up line and hardware today for topping lift. Will search for a reasonable $ boom vang. I have a local contact he...

Missing Topping Lift and Boom vang
Recently acquired my 26M and just splashed in this week. Am sorting and adjusting rigging and find I do not have Topping Lift nor Boom Vang. Reviewed owners manual and does not mention a Topping Lift, and Boom Vang was an 'option'. Anyone with a 26M acquire without these and do you sail without a To...

Re: New Member - Sailing with Stern Rail Seats
Thanks swscott and Jimmyt. Both excellent tips. Will add to my notes and can't wait till spring to practice them in comparison to my previous keel Tanzer 26.

Re: New Member - Sailing with Stern Rail Seats
Good catch. Thanks. Another note to make in my own MacGregor note book. I'll download that manual. Got a lot more to learn, expecially since I haven't owned a boat, or motored a boat with a motor over 9.9.

Re: New Member - Sailing with Stern Rail Seats
Thanks for the quick responses. So, from what I gather so far, I shouldn't be too top heavy with bodies in both stern seats, if sailing in moderate weather, say 8 to 15 kts and/or motoring at hull speed of 10 to 12 kts. Reason for asking as I have two grown teen sailor grandchildren who will beelin...

New Member - Sailing with Stern Rail Seats
Hello everyone. I have recently acquired a 2004 MacGregor 26M and am very excited waiting for spring. I have owned 3 sailboats, a Paceship 23, Tanzer 26 and most recently a Siren 17. My MacGregor comes, it appears fully equipped with cockpit enclosure, stern rail seats, furling jenny and many other ...
