Re: Sewing Machine thoughts.
I bought a Kenmore 158 - all metal parts , from Goodwill. Modified it make 6mm stitches, but it can't handle the Tex 70 thread let alone the tex 90 that I will be using. Wife has a Brother machine that handles the thread ok but will only make 5mm stitches. Im looking for a machine to do 6mm and zig ...

Sewing Machine thoughts.
I’m looking for a portable walking foot sewing machine. Jobs include redoing the cushions on my boats and patching the sails. I’ve narrowed it down to either the : 1. Consew CP146RL - which is a 9” machine and add the Sailrite worker B motor. Or 2. Sailrite LSZ-1. Difference between the two is about...

DIY Sail kits....
Are there any places that offer sail kits for the DIYer? I plan on getting a Sailrite for some other projects, so looking to see if I could justify the price of the sailrite by building my own sails. Or at least recutting the ones I have. Sailrite has a kit for a Macgregor 25 and 26X. I have a 26D. ...

I guess when you put it into perspective it is pretty amazing. My rebuild is way overkill then.

Original deck lay up schedule.
So I did a little clean up around the property today. we had some brush that needed to be burned. So I tossed on the fire the old parts of my deck I tore out. I was surprised that the plywood and resin burnt but the glass was left intact. So this gave me a chance to see what cloth was used originall...

Thank you. I have a lot to accomplish and everything is taking me longer than expected. But I’m working at my own pace. Well my pace and whenever the weather allows.

Re: Restore /refit of my 1988/89 26D
So the tent I made to trap the heat from a space heater did not work that well. It could only keep the temps about 25* above ambient air temps. So for us right now in the 30s at night it is taking a long time for the epoxy to cure. So as I was watching on YouTube, The Duracell project refit I notice...

Re: Rub Rail Replacement

Re: Restore /refit of my 1988/89 26D
I used 16oz of epoxy to wet out the plywood and let it sit for about 10 mins to allow it to soak in. Then we rolled out the DB1700 cloth. We weighed it first and used the same weight in epoxy to saturate the glass and used a bubble buster to help remove all the air. We then applied the peel ply and ...

Re: Restore /refit of my 1988/89 26D
Started laying glass on my first layer of plywood this evening. It took more epoxy than I was expecting. I coated the plywood first and let that soak in for about 20 mins. Then I rolled out the DB1700. I weighed the glass and used the same amount of epoxy by weight. All of this I used about 1/4-1/3 ...

Re: Diesel heat and epoxy
I was worried about anything that is in the exhaust of the heater contaminating the epoxy and keeping it from a proper cure. I’ll probably just go with electric heat. Probably safer altogether.

Diesel heat and epoxy
Now that the the weather has turned cool I need to provide heat. I have a Diesel heater. Is it ok to use a fuel type heater like this around epoxy? Not worried about combustion but more worried about the epoxy not curing properly. Is this an issue?

Re: Restore /refit of my 1988/89 26D
So i have finally made the decision to use marine ply to rebuild my cabin top. I chose plywood for a couple of reasons. I looked at pvc sheets for the core but it was just to flexible even with glass added. Coosa was just to expensive and I from what I have found online i feel it was just a bit more...
