Re: Gas Tanks Redo

Also, the full tank was pretty freaking heavy to lift onto the trailered boat. WOW, that's about 77 lbs. Virtually impossible to lift. What about filling it while on the trailer? That's what I do. On the way to the ramp, I stop and fill up. Or maybe something like this. https://www.amazon.com/Gas-G...

Re: Gas Tanks Redo

Whatever you do, don't get the Scepter 12 gallon. It is definitely about an inch too tall for the 26M fuel tank space. :? I just made this mistake, and am trying to justify raising the lid by moving the hinges to the seat back where they can be mounted higher. But, that creates a bump in the cockpit...

Re: Steering / Motor Linkage

I'm not sure where the control unit of an autopilot would've been placed to be connected, there are no screw holes anywhere I can see around it. I'm installing an EV100 this weekend and think I'm gonna disconnect the contraption and install the J arm I got from BWY. Maybe there will be a difference ...

Re: Steering / Motor Linkage

Be Free, after closer inspection here are a few more pics. This metal bracket thing is fairly well engineered, and doesn't look like a DIY or local shop did it, IDK. There is one bolt (marked with pointer) that is loose and hangs down about an inch as if something may have been attached. Sorry the f...

Re: Moving forestay forward/Adding 2nd forestay furler

Thanks, NiceAft, Highlander and I are already in contact. JimmyT...if only Hawaii has lottery! Not positive on the luck, though, since the genoa was listed 2 weeks after buying the jib due to my original genoa getting shredded! Now, since I can never pass up a good deal, I'm looking at the cost of a...

Re: Moving forestay forward/Adding 2nd forestay furler

First, I should say the question has come up for me due to finding a brand new 6oz Doyle furler genoa for $150 locally, and I just bought a new Rolly Tasker jib from BWY, as Todd and I agreed a jib is better for my windward conditions than a genoa rolled 50%, for 90% of the time. I'm not about to sw...

Re: Moving forestay forward/Adding 2nd forestay furler

Totally agree, NiceAft. It's like the big roller coaster vs the kiddie rides! You just have to trust the way the boat reacts. 20° heel is when she will settle in. You'll get accustomed to sitting on the windward bench and looking down at the water. :o

Re: Steering / Motor Linkage

LOL, JimmyT, didn't know I was in any competition. :D Be Free, there's nothing to note. No extra holes, or missing parts. The rest of the linkage, and steering is the same. This reminds me, I need to tighten that bracket at the steering cable end. https://i.postimg.cc/3WSbZjFH/20210908-102215.jpg ht...

Re: Steering / Motor Linkage

I failed to mention that I added the quick connect. The rod that came with the kit was too long, so I just took the ends off. My mistake to not have scoured the BWY website to find I could buy just the ends, which I have seen listed since. So I bought the kit and have left over the long rod and the ...

Re: Steering / Motor Linkage

Here's a pic of motor end. It's a solid SS rod with the quick connect ball, and connector to motor. There aren't any mods to the rudder slot. The piece that's epoxied to the vertical stringer is cut around it, so no changes to the stringer. I'm thinking maybe the original motor rod broke, and this w...

Re: Moving forestay forward/Adding 2nd forestay furler

I agree. Ridiculousness. Not sure how a simple question for a mod that I choose to do to my boat has ruffled feathers. :| I was only looking for advice from someone who has pulled off the mod successfully. Imitation is a form of flattery. Though I wouldn't go to the extent Highlander did, that boat ...

Re: Routing 2nd (upper) reef lines for single line reefing

Recently, in preparation for a new mainsail with 2 reef points, I've been contemplating this very issue. I found Viadana to have good prices for micro blocks. They offer a double inline block (btm rt in pic) that seems could be utilized for 2 reef lines if mounted at an angle, saving holes and clean...

Re: Steering / Motor Linkage

I'd also like to know the story behind this! Doesn't seem warranted, and the steering is exactly as expected for a Mac, heavy with motor attached. The rest of the linkage is unchanged. You can see in the 2nd picture where the "contraption" bolts to the port rudder arm, which moves the slid...

Re: Moving forestay forward/Adding 2nd forestay furler

I did see that video and sent DM to Highlander. What an awesome setup!! Not sure if doing what I'm planning needs a backstay or not. I've seen the 2nd stay added between the forward hatch and ground tackle locker. Was just thinking how nice a bowsprit would look and it's functionality. A full jib wi...
