Re: 2004 26M repower from Johnson (Bombardier) 50hp to modern Suzuki 30hp
I looked at the month and day of your post and didn't notice the year until your last update :D I had to do some intense searching to find my boats.net order for my prop in 2022. -- Caveat is that my motor is the Honda 50HP, 4 blade PROP, SS (11-3/4 X 11) I don't have another prop to compare it to a...

Re: Rigging stay attachment: to bolt or not to bolt
3. Don,t use “grade 8” or whatever the SS equivalent is. Those bolts will get shock loaded and high strength leads to higher brittleness, which is not good for shock loads. “Grade 5” has adequate strength, and is much less brittle (a good hardware man can give you the Stainless equivalent of those ...

Re: New Mainsail for M. Where did You Get Yours
Don't forget to trade your sails and get some cool stuff from Sea Bags: https://seabags.com/our-company/sea-bags-sail-trade-program.html That Gray sail is very very cool. When I traded in my old sails to Sea Bags I got a duffel made from a Tanbark sail.. Very unique sails are awesome For my :macm: I...

Re: July 24th sail
Great sail log! I have had the same trouble sometimes where the wind ends up pushing me around instead of doing the whole air lift/physics thing with the sail to move me in the direction I want.

Re: Have you ever had the itch to sell your 26M/X and buy a "true" sailboat?
I sold my San Juan 21 four years ago and bought a 26M (wanted something bigger to say overnight, etc), I know this is an old post, and I'm glad it got brought back in our search for our friend BOAT. I came here to say that this was my journey too, for the same reasons. I had two San Juans before I ...

Re: Raising mast on ramp?
If I have two helpers, it takes even longer than that (I have to explain to each what they have to do, double-check, help the helpers, and that takes extra time). Came here to say ... this hit home, so hard, I doubled over in laughter and solidarity. "But you need help, I come help you"

Re: Repower and Repair or Sell?
You have gotten a lot of very good advice. The consistent theme is, in one year, this is too much. But spread out, it matches just about what all of us put in. A new motor is a wonderful proposition. In the time since your boat has been built, you could get a 75HP motor instead of a 50HP it probably...

Re: 2025 Mid-Atlantic MacGregor Mid-Winter "Gathering of the Faithful"
We would love to be put on the "B" or "Wait" list! In July our newest apprentice was hired and there has been an observed challenge in life that was not present in going from 0 to 1 able bodied seawomen. Thank you Kevin for organizing this every year. I would suggest that even at...

Re: New Option for Portable Boat Air Conditioning!
Just to add another option… a step up from the classic swamp cooler…. This is not a swamp cooler. It's an IcyBreeze, and what I mentioned in my earlier reply as my current solution. However, if you are feeling more DIY, this gentleman's solution is better and more versatile: https://frankencooler.c...

Re: New Option for Portable Boat Air Conditioning!
I want to start by saying I have nearly 40 years of experience as a consumer of air conditioning and electricity which in my mind makes me pretty cool. 8) Now the rest of the story... I take my 2005 :macm: out on day trips in the Chesapeake here on the East Coast, and have a wife and a now two year ...

Re: Boat back in slip, but took too long!
I should add, I'm a day sailor, so all this is done with the stability the trailer affords. It would take me longer in a slip or on the water for any of these steps.
Also, first time out invariably takes longer as you regrow your sea legs
