I'm finishing up making mine now, using the rigging as a guide for it's length. I've attached images with a tape measure. I settled on making it 1.5x5.5x6' (2x6 nominal) because the original (tang?) That bolts through the bowsprit and is the attachment for the bobstay and forestay was 1.5" wide...

Sorry, I just saw your message on here. My uncle owns a macgregor 25 and he suggested using the bobstay to try and estimate the length. That being said a few pictures and dimensions would be a nice help. Thank you!

Bud, thanks for your suggestion. I thought about sailing it as a sloop too, but since I've got all the other hardware (yankee, staysail, shrouds, bob-stay, staysail boom etc) and I'm a bit of a purist I'd like to rig how it came from the factory, not to mention I'd probably have to find a bigger jib...
