Re: Thinking about Flaming Gorge

I have every intention of making Flaming Gorge but will have to wait for retirement at years end. Maybe 2022. Got the boat, the RV to pull it with. No reason not to go other than the work it takes to get ready. First order of business is to get new genoa ordered and replaced. Stitching on Sunbrella ...

Re: New Jib or Genoa?

That would be nice to actually meet someone else interested in Mac's. I live in Coeur d Alene and although both Lake Coeur d Alene and Lake Pendoreille are both great sailing lakes, I have my Mac on Bull Lake in Western Montana. That's where my lake lot is at. Small lake and lots of turning as I've ...

Re: New Jib or Genoa?

All interesting points. Since this thing is completely just for fun and I use it approximately 6-8 times a season, the standard Genoa probably makes the most sense. My guess is just the fact of getting a new sail will improve most aspects? With luck and retirement coming up end of this year, I'll be...

New Jib or Genoa?

Good morning from the frozen North. About 17 degrees and would be better off with and ice boat than a sailboat but, it's never too early to get ready right? Earlier on this forum I asked about going with jib or genoa and why. Got some interesting input on the matter. My UV black Sunbrella is coming ...

Re: JIB OR GENOA?

Interestingly enough, I bought a set of the cam car cleats in early spring and never ended up installing them. Maybe I need to dig into my bag of goodies and drag them out. My concern with them was putting all the load of the Genoa on those units. Maybe I worry too much? In any case, I feel a new sa...

JIB OR GENOA?

As the season ended I was noticing my Sunbrella covering on the Genoa starting to come apart at the stitches. Was weighing the value in getting it repaired or just flat out replaced? My guess is the sail is original when the boat was new in 2005. Probably end of life anyways. I'm not experienced eno...

Re: End of season approaching

Ray, I live in Coeur d Alene but keep the boat in Montana on a very small lake. Bull Lake. Sandpoint is halfway between my home and my lake property. Pendoreille Lake is a fantastic sailing location but I don't have time to be in multiple locations in the summer time. It's off work, grab what I need...

End of season approaching

Fellow Mac'ers, My first full season of playing with my Mac26m is about to come to an end. End of Sept, is typically when I pack up my lake cabin, winterize the fifthwheel and generally prepare the lake property for the long winter sleep. This weekend, I will sail the boat if there is any wind? The ...

Re: Flyorsail.com Pegasus Aeronautics ripped me off??

Boat, Hard to say you were ripped off in my opinion. They're out of business. Having been in sales all my life, I've experienced this scenario a zillion times. Product can have a lifetime guarantee. Makes no difference. The life time is the life time of the company making it. Covid has changed the w...

Re: Working on Steel 2005 Mac Trailer

This trailer rebuild thingy has caused me to loose just a little sleep over the last few weeks. Hopefully, I'm getting to the end zone soon? Turns out the brakes are UFP35's and I got new calipers, pads, mounting bolts and slide surge brake unit. I think it was UFP 60. Rotors are fine. Everything wa...

Still looking for answer on the surge brake UFP number and the caliper number for 5 lug rotors?

Working on Steel 2005 Mac Trailer

Cleaned up a ton of corrosion and primed and painted this 2005 Mac steel trailer. Working now on the brakes. It appears that the sliding unit is a UFP A60 and the calipers are UFP DB35. Can anyone with first hand knowledge confirm? I intend to replace rather than rebuild. Not worth my time and effor...

Re: Onboard shoes

Thank you very much everyone for the insights into deck wear that works.
Still winter here in North Idaho, but spring will come. I'll be ready and so will my Mac 26M.

Onboard shoes

Here is a simple question. What kind of onboard deck shoes are popular on these fiberglass decks? I only had my Mac out one time after purchase and before it was parked for the season. I had on my typical hiking boot style of shoes and managed to leave "skiddies" all over the deck. Obvious...
