Leon & Daniel, did you finally see a real performance increase, means less heeling tendency with your heavier boards?

There is tons of talk here what if there were equal conditions to compare these two boats. What I try to say, is, that you couldn´t have a better comparison than that to see, which BOAT is REALLY faster. Same weight, same load and a better skipper on the slower boat prove, that Roger M. has been rig...

X versus M race, it has been done

Hi all, today I had the opportunity to head into the same direction at the same time as an X boat. I heard, whenever this is the case, you can call it a race. Here are the preconditions: both boats loaded with 4 persons and a light load for a daytrip. The weight was almost identical. The X was flyin...

Sounds like you found a good solution. I´m afraid, no. A dive revealed that the the trailing edge "bumper" went off already and the trailing edge is broken again on exactly the same area. Tomorrow I´ll take it out and apply some layers of glass to it and maybe something to additionally en...

Can you give some details on this? With pleasure. If you drop the board, there´s obviously still 7-10 inches of daggerboard in the trunk. I wrapped a layer of 5 millimeter (sorry can´t translate that to US measurements) rubber gasket around that area (only leading + trailing edge) and bolted it on ...

Hi George, I went exactly through the same stages like you. Excitement when I went through the advertising stuff and when I saw her the first time, doubts and disappointment when I found out that the "speedboat" side was not really there, thoughtful about the tenderness and the sailing per...

I realized the weakness of the board already. I think, this is intended to a certain extent. Something must give in, if you hit something. However, my board got damaged a couple of times (trailing AND leading edge) in normal sailing conditions - nothing was hit. I address that to the looseness it ha...

Frank, thanks for the links. I´ve read most of that already before I opened this thread. Maybe someone came up with a removable weight already, but then i must have missed that out. The big question for is, if the M daggerboard is hollow inside or if there are a number of closed chambers. This would...

Daggerboard Ballast?

I´m toying with the idea, to drill a hole into the top of the daggerboard, hoping that it might be completely hollow and I can drop some 15m of 8mm anchor chain there to make the boat more stable and less heeling in strong winds. I know it sounds a bit adventurous but I think, it could work pretty w...

I wanted to close this thread by adding a few informations that I could obtain since we talked last time. The upgradeable parts from a 50 to a 60 HP Yamaha Txx are the cdi unit and the carburetors. Total cost for the upgrade: around 1000,- Euros excluding work, probably a bit more compared to the ne...

Andrew, could you specify the exact type prop? Do you reach the 16 knots in "everyday" configuration (200-300kg of load), standing rigging, and without help of wind and currents? Or was it a one time speed record? I could reach 18 knots with the same engine, but only once, backed by some w...

Hi maddmike, I too have a marketing background and the things you mention are essential. If you have virtually no competition though, you still can run things "your way". Maybe someone from Macgregor is occasionally dropping in here without leaving a trace - who knows... Anyway I didn´t wa...

beene, have you tried a speed reading with all the standing good up? I´m sure you loose a few MPH´s. And what´s even more interesting: how much fuel do you use at 20-22MPH? PS: funny to hear that squeaking noise from the wheel on your boat as well. I got my pedestal sealed with silicone - it got bet...

me & my mac after 1000nm in thailand

Exactly 6 months ago I put my brand new :macm: into the tropical water of Koh Samui for the first time. And she pretty much stayed in there most of the time. As it was my goal to set up a day trip business to tourists, the goal for the first half year was to get to know the boat and the nautical are...
