Leaf spring failure on a 26x trailer info wanted

My leaf spring failed on my 1998 26x trailer from a 6 inch pothole travelling less than 5 mph! I am having so much difficulty replacing it I won’t be inspecting the other for damage. Has anyone replaced one and have pertinent replacement information. I was surprised that the 4 inch frame was sagging...

Re: Early 26X has 2 ballast vent valves?

My buddies 26X is only 50 serial numbers different than mine. His vent valve is under the v berth which usually gets buried with stuff while mine is always accessible under the cabin step. His ladder is outside the rudder, allowing for a wider and bigger motor but with shorter legs my girlfriend doe...

Re: Can't believe I waited so long to buy a pressure washer for my Mac and home

Beware high high pressure washers blowing off gel coating flakes and bits. If the fiberglass is exposed you will need to repair it soon to stop water penetration soaking fiberglass strands creating further issues in the future. I now have a dozen spots patched, primarily in the cabin area, that will...

Re: Winter frame for 100 + inches of snow

Snow shed. I was investigating stanchion removal info for my snow shed when i came opon these threads. Also suggest periodic RV antifreeze for transom drain. The photo of the high pitched would frame looks very good. A tight high pitched tarp works in Revelstoke BC. Ensure there are no pockets to co...

Re: Max Horsepower for '01 26 x

Stay away from a yamahaT25C. It has terrible vibration problems due to elimination of balance wheel for weight reduction. Besides noisier It is also slower under 10 mph than a 2005 Yamaha high thrust with a 12.25 prop.which reaches 13 mph on identical 1998 26 X. Returning for a F50LA as only availab...

I would like to know your propeller recommendation for the 26x 50 hp yamaha. Retired my 50MD tohatsu 2 stroke for a vibrating undersized Yamaha t25c .

Re: De-powering to 10-25 hp ob motor?

25 hp high thrust older Yamaha with 12.25 x 11? Prop will get boat up to 13 mph and allow planing and pulling a tethered wake surfer behind 26X. Don't buy a new Yamaha T25C it vibrates terribly and transmits throughout the boat plus it's smaller prop barely achieves a plane with 4 adults and coolers...

Re: Winter 2019-20 - Boat Cover

How did cover work. I think tubes to stanchions should have twine inside them to keep it from blowing over. Keep an eye on cockpit area where the snow and water can accumulate. I live in heliski capitol and was tired of shoveling snow and didn't inspect boat. The tarp bent my 26 x mast single post m...

Re: bow-boarding from the water possible?

I built a 3 rung rope ladder using 3/4 x 4 x 12 plywood. Especially useful when beached and then after launching. Small fenders interesting idea as might work for docking. but bulky. I store mine in anchor storage hold. My ladder goes on either side of prow. A direct front mount may unstabley swing ...

Re: Mac 26x Swing Keel

Good luck.My first attempt at fiberglassing was to add 2 missing feet to bottom of swing keel did not go well. Eventually bought a new one. Suggest using a wood mold inserting into lower sectione. Then cover all with fiberglass including oversized holes. There is a knob on bow side of keel to keep i...

Hi Mallardjusted? I am purchasing a yamaha 2018 F70LA to replace my Tohatsu 50D too. Are the throttle and shifter cables reusable? Original length was 13 feet. Did you go smaller or bigger. Please advise any issues and reinforcement requirements. Please send bolting requirements and photos . Regardi...

Re: MAc 26x Swing Keel build

Hi Bruce I tried repairing my Keel that was missing 18 inches off its bottom. FYI they are semi hollow to reduce transportation weight and allow its uhaul while being heavy enough to sink. My bad attempts at fiberglass repair eventually resulted in purchasing a new one. Contact

Re: Mast Carrier

I agree that some extra support would be helpful at least some strapping to ensure the support is stabilized. I tarped and wintered my boat in Enderby BC where there is usually minimal snow but the most snow in 50 years, Bent the mast support, broke the pedestal and ripped off the back life lines. G...

If your swing Keel does not easily remove snd down like mine didn't from excessive sealant from po. A 15 minute job became 3 hours of cussing. Besides profanity which did not work here is my story. I just removed my 98 26x swing Keel. It was very very difficult due to po putting excessive sealant th...

26x swing keel repair or purchase

Ahoy, I recently purchased a 26X with a swing keel missing the bottom 16 inches. Please advise if anyone has a spare for sale. Alternately I will fiberglass the missing end. If anyone has any experience I would greatly appreciate their input as I have no fiberglass experience. I intenid on using the...
