From what I have learned from all of you and doing a little research the Uflex is an upgrade from the original system. I will go that route. Don T Thank you for the offer but I am going to replace the whole thing. I was really lucky, the boat hit some wood pilings. If the boat had drifted 20 feet to...

1996 26x steering box

Hi all,
I had my boat come loose from its mooring in high wind this weekend and run aground. Anyway to make a long story short the steering box has apparently stripped some gears in the process. What is a good replacement box?
Thanks
Tim :)

I have had one for years but have yet to install the extra halyard to fly it.
Hopefully this winter.

There is a guy in the UK on Ebay that sells Lewmar 16st by the pair for $540 plus around $100 to ship to the US. I know they are a little overkill for the Mac but they would easy even for my kids to use. Plus the price is right.

Self tailing genoa winches

I am thinking about adding a couple of self tailing winches aft of the genoa sheet blocks to make it easier for me to singlehand from behind the wheel. Has anyone else done this? I am just looking for input before I do it.
Thanks
Tim

I pay $70 per month for a mooring. It is little bit of a pain to row a dinghy out each time we use it but not compared to setting it up and launching. I have solar panels for charging the batteries so no need for shore power.

Where to find 26x rudder bracket

I need a new Rudder bracket for my 26X, one of mine has bent and even though I had it fixed in a machine shop press it tweaked back the first time I took the boat out again. Does anyone know where to buy a new one?
Thanks
Tim :)
