Re: Polyester epoxy resin.

Hi Over Easy, Thank's for your 2 cents worth regarding the use of aluminium underwater. You are correct about its negative aspects but I think the PO attached it as a matter of expediency for a damage cover-up rather than protection. Time and further inspection will tell. I employed a diver to free ...

Re: Polyester epoxy resin.

Hi Over Easy, Thank you for your prompt, helpful reply. On your advice, I will use the EPOXY technique as it bonds with both poly and epoxy and I'm familiar with its use. The history of this problem:The boat lives in a slip in salt water. A PO attached an aluminium shield to the leading edge of the ...

Polyester epoxy resin.

My 1999 X has some damage to the leading edge of the centreboard which I intend fixing shortly.
Do I use polyester or expoxy resin? Has anyone done such a repair and what are your tips? Thanks.

Re: How are you fellows faring in the record heat?

We have been experiencing extreme heat conditions in S E Queensland. Temps of 37-38 have been regularly recorded in the coastal regions with smoke haze being the most debilitating issue for the elderly. Visibility has been down to 3 nautical miles despite winds of up to 25 kts but it's raining light...

Re: Model year questions

Before I'm corrected, it should be: above and to the rear of the gally area.

Re: Model year questions

Look for a brass plate, starboard side, tramsom. Also there is one above and abaft of the stove area. From memory the laast two numerals give the build year.

Re: Sportdrive X-5 ... Ok or not for a Mac?

Of general interest but on topic, I am very happy with my Raymarine EV100. It suits the hydraulic drive and the motor sound is reassuring.

Resin

I am undertaking some minor repairs on my X and my specialist adviser has suggested I ask the following question:
Is the Mac X constructed using EPOXY or POLYESTER resin?
I respectfully ask for a simple answer. Thanks.
