Re: What mod or accessory would have been put here?

I run my solar panel wires exactly through that same location. However, it should NEVER be run directly to the battery. Mine goes to a controller that then goes to the panel via a FUSE. Your PO running wires directly unfused to the batter could have started a nasty fire. It could have been a solar ...

Re: What mod or accessory would have been put here?

I have a 26m as well have and no wires coming out from that location. Must have been for some sort of accessory or could have been a low powered solar panel feeding the battery. Good example of why circuit protection should always be placed close to the power source, if there was a proper fuse in li...

Re: Through-Hull Transducer

My m 22 had a basic fish finder for a depth sounder. PO epoxied a piece of 4"pvc, filled it with some sort of oil and dropped the transducer inside it. It was then covered with a plastic cap w/ a hole drilled through it for the wire to pass through. Worked great as there was no water ballast in...

Re: Hull Question

Had the same issue with the Mac 22 I bought a few years back....bottom was pushed up at stern where it sat on bunks. Looked close from inside and there were no visible issues with hull. When I replaced bunks I replaced stock lumber with 2" wider and added 2' to length as there was lots of overh...

Re: Blue Water Yachts - Great Service

Just made an order last week through the website, spent 20 mins on the phone prior to ordering with Ezra to ensure I was selecting the right parts. He took the time to walk me through each item and give me the correct part numbers prior to ordering online. Once the order was placed I received a call...

Re: Honda BF50 making oil

I'm a HD mechanic. A few things will be bad enough to raise the oil level that much. First off though, water in oil will be make it turn milky and make tons of sludge, so we can eliminate that of the bat. A broken piston ring, broken exhaust valve rocker, a very deep scratch on your cylinder wall w...

Re: Looking for easy Mac boarding in campground

I usually just use the swim ladder at the rear when it is on the trailer or if I am in and out lots I put a 2' stepladder with 3 steps and slide it in between the motor and the right rudder. Having an M and limited space to squeeze through at the transom I also lower the motor and the rudder on the ...

Done....great resource. Spend a lot of time on here in hardwater season, not so much in sailing season.

Re: 2001 Macgregor 26X For Sale in Woodbridge, Virginia

Seems like a good deal to me...looks pretty clean. When I was looking the best I could find was 12-17000 CAD for a used x up North. If this had come up when I was looking I wouldn't have the bought the M....originally I was convinced I wanted the X.

Re: What is this hole above my rudder attachments?

I had a really close look inside the stern of my boat when I purchased it and the 2 holes above the rudder do not go through to the inside of the boat that I can see. I would think the most likely leak you could have in the stern of the boat would be a cracked sink or motor well drain line near the ...

Yes...the optional henway is a great feature although I lose about an 1/8th of a knot from that extra weight hanging off the stern.

Re: 2016 Summer photos

Here's a few from our year end wrap up flotilla...a little beyond summer but still good times. Arrived at the club and had to shovel 4" of snow from docks and boats before shoving off, sailed to the end of the lake where we had a bbq and anchored for the night and then woke up to a few inches o...

Re: What is this hole above my rudder attachments?

Same holes in my 2008 as well...I did have a look in side and they do not go through. It looks like fibreglass is double wall in that area and it looked to me it looked like it may connect to ballast tank. I assumed it was some sort of ballast vent, but did not research further once I found it didn'...
