Re: Insuring mac in Canada with engines over recommended HP
Hi This is an old post, but it applies to my macx , i have to decide if i put $ in my honda bf50a 2000, and use my merc20hp 2strk as back up and more power if needed. We sail most of the time and the maximum speed i can get is 17-18 knts facing wind (20knts). I guess i would speed up to 22 knots add...

Re: Lightning????
this is a never ending topic. as a group of sailors and navigators, we have experienced lightning strikes. My sailboat was struck and simply demasted. I wasn't on it ... Not a mac at the time. My friend's cottage was strucked, his house burned and he got hit trying to tie his fishing boat the wind w...

Re: The new tow tug
this is what i had in mind. We had wheels of trailer size for our old trailer for the powerboat. We had a very long shallow at low tides and we did not want our cars totally in the water. Now people use ATVs but they ruin them if they go too deep. Perhaps having the motor up and chain gear to the to...

Re: Towing jet ski behind 26m in water
I would look at some form of bracket with flottation capacities. Check with Armstrong brakets or another make for such a bracket for heavy outboards motors. I would even consider some kind of use for the seadoo . in shallow waters ...beware of algeas.

Re: Anyone have/use Parasail?
Hi
I kite and this is for sûre a fun concept. Soon you might see a Mac or tattoo 26 with funny wings.
Foils, trim tabs, floating engine Brackets , trimaranmac, are also ways to speed up a 26.
For me the most important thing Will always be to reduce quickly
In case of emergency .

stern outboards brackets with floatation
Hi Did any of you guys have such a bracket on your Mac ? I have seen them advertised on www.dadmarine.com, and Armstrongnautical.com. I saw one photo with a bracket and trim tabs. It looks like it is good on fuel too. I look at this because at the marina, they have a minimum charge for 30 ft vessels...

mac 26 x, mod to head possible ?
Hi It looks like it could be possible to push a toilet under the aft dinette seat, this is to have a little bit more space showering or simply washing hands. It will be a compost toilet, or, if it doesn't fit a porta. I will have to shim the door a little for my shoulders and elbow room. 2 " at...

Re: Smart tabs on X..yes or no?
Hi Having used tabs and trims, yes if you motor alot with loads aft. It allows you also to level left to right. I noticed on youtube that more powerfull engines weigh more, and in a way do seem to welly. I would look at a way to tighten the swing keel opening. On a youtube video, at a beach meeting,...

Re: looking for a dinghy --ideas
Hi I was thinking about getting a spark seadoo and even use it as a stern plug-in to push or help push the boat. Not completely out of the question but we will see , i would need to find a way to trailer it. On a F250 or Ram 2500 pickup maybe ... But i definitly want to bring my beach cats. I don't ...

Re: storage on board
Hi If i can suggest something, i plan to get rid of all the cushions and back rests. Make new ones, inside those, you can store lots of things, toilet paper, scott towels, swim noodles, life jackets, some small cans but don't throw pillows at Trump... fill the voids with inflatables as you go. A wat...

picture window screens
Hi I plan to add thin hd tv screens wherever i can even blinding the "larger" windows. I will use cameras , probably one (maybe 2) for each port, bow and one aft stern. They will also be connected to my satellite tv and internet. I'll connect my dvd players to them. I will watch all the ga...

Re: British Virgin Islands
Hi Diandersson, Did you really go to the BVI on your Mac ? I thought i would be limited to Bahamas and TCI . I find the great lakes and the St-Laurent river and the gulf to be as unforgiven as a short ocean ride. I already went several times to the Virgins islands and St-Martin , and many other isla...

Re: killing zebra mussels in ballast tanks
i heard also about hot water working on zebras, tried it on ants, it worked well. Carefull with chlorine , my replacement at the pool burnt himself badly handling chlorine powder. I would consider all alternatives and try the least potential dangerous first. Could a filter prevent it ? salt in balla...
