Re: Enjoying The New Sails on Mobile Bay (Video)
By anger, I mean on the water in the real as opposed to on the trailer in the test. :) I eventually want to build a sailpack/lazy jack combo but haven't sprung for the sewing machine yet. Since we just do long weekends at the lake at this point I'm just looking for a quick and easy to rig solution, ...

Re: Enjoying The New Sails on Mobile Bay (Video)
FlyboyTR I noticed you had an interesting lazy jack arrangement -- care to share? I'm still trying to come up with a trailering-friendly lazy jack install for my S.
How well does it work for you now that you've used it "in anger" ?

Re: certificate of compliance?
The laz is not a fuel tank compartment, and fuel should not be stored there without significant modification (blowers, sealing the area off from the cabin, ignition safe electronics (if you have any,) etc.
I keep my 3 gal tank in the foot well when I have the 9.9 on the boat.

Re: Lithium Batteries anybody using them?
hah Kadet, way to go! When I first started fooling with LiFePO4 I looked at several "manufacturers" and asked the ultimate question: are they all made by the same Chinese company? The first one i got was a GBS 20ah 4cell pack from Elite Power Solutions because (at the time) their warehouse...

Re: Lithium Batteries anybody using them?
Glad I could help, guys. I am an extra class amateur radio operator and have been playing with LiFePO4 for years, to me it only makes logical sense to use them in this application. You lose so much power from charging lead acids (30%?) in the absorption charge phase that it offends my sensibilities....

Re: Lithium Batteries anybody using them?
I use two 100ah strings of these LiFePo4 batteries in parallel: http://elitepowersolutions.com/products/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=92, for a total of 200ah. I have cell balancers on each cell (Total 8..), a 50 ah breaker on the whole package, a Midnite Solar The Kid Marine charge cont...

Re: Towing a Dinghy Behind a Classic
Regarding sailing unballasted on a Mac 26 classic -- with all due respect to the X owners in the thread -- FlyboyTR has a S model, the classic.. this boat is extremely different from an X or M in hull shape and stability wise. Recommending sailing a '26 Classic unballasted is wreckless and dangerous...

Re: New Owner/Member: Mac 26s...Baggy Sails!
Hi there, I picked up a '90 mac 26s about a year ago and can relate to the terrible wiring and plumbing... :) I stripped it all out and replaced everything, rebedded all deck hardware, and added a lot of 'creature comforts,' so the YL will actually spend some quality time with me.. Our mainsail soun...

Re: New Boat, with holes
I purchased a 1990 26s earlier this year and have been refitting/repairing/sailing it.. (okay only had it out once, but it floats!) They are both "above-waterline" thru hulls. The starboard amidships hole is for the sink drain, the port side aft (larger) hole is for the cockpit + motor wel...
