Re: Permanent Beach Trailer, instead of dock or pier?
You are correct, Alaska state law requires large shaggy beards for anyone involved in reality TV, set in Alaska. I wish I could draw as nicely as yourself BOAT! thanks for the ideas and suggestions. I also started planning a beach mounted winch, but I don't have a remote control and didn't have solu...

Re: Permanent Beach Trailer, instead of dock or pier?
I don't actually know, but no one has any ramps or rails. Other coves have some docks, but also not ramps or rails. One would have to contend with ramps or rails getting covered, contaminated, or buried with shifting gravel from wave and tide movement. Also, a rail or ramp would have to be VERY long...

Re: Permanent Beach Trailer, instead of dock or pier?
Great Link Russ, that does give me lots of ideas. Their are lots of piers and a few boat houses, but my budget is minimal to begin. these are the neighbors: https://i.postimg.cc/8jdf20Mw/IMG-0339.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/nMDDkzLy/IMG-0342.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/bsf2FhDs/IMG-0368.jpg https://i.post...

Permanent Beach Trailer, instead of dock or pier?
I recently bought a somewhat remote beach front lot in Kachemak Bay Alaska, and want to be able to load and unload my Mac26X easily to shore. Most lots in the immediate area use a Mooring, and dingy's to shore, or has some piers and a platform, or perhaps hires a landing craft for big loads. This de...

Re: New Custom 26X Trailer
Has anyone investigated using longitudinal bunks rather than the lateral crossmember bunks that come standard for either the X or M? I am planning on building an aluminum trailer and was considering using the non stock yet more conventional bunk arraignment and wondered if anyone has info?

Re: Aluminum Trailer - Need help
Investigating building my own trailer. Kokopelli trailers here in alaska are very popular for boats, for similar mac trailers with 5200 lbs rating they are using 5.5"x3.5" I beams that look like they can be supplied from easternmetal.com look for boat aluminum I beam extrusions, I found ap...

Re: Inside Passage 2017
Bob, do you have a rough idea of where you might be and when? For instance, when you might be near Ketchikan on the way north?

Re: Mac-less
Bob, Make damn sure you have a boat ready for "northern roundup 2017" early next summer, as you said earlier in this thread ".. I'll also still host a northern roundup but I'll prob be at the back of the pack from now on" I'm holding you to that statement! I doubt you will be at ...

Midwest rendezvous Missouri: lake Ozark, Stockton lake?
Hoping to see if any sailors might be interested in a sail and meetup this fall in the Midwest somewhere? Lake of the Ozarks is a fun possibility, although any other suggestions are encouraged.

Re: 26M purchasing advice.
I would probably not worry about 30 amp shore power nor a pump out head, both could be pretty easily and not to expensively retrofitted, and you might consider a composting toilet instead anyway. Expensive items like full enclosure and stern seats would rank higher on my list of items nice to have e...

Re: Forward Hatch Adjuster
These are really nice, as nice aft mentioned, they are very simple and allow one to fold the hatch all the way 180 degrees as well as the partially open position as long as you install it the right distance from from the hinges. Get the heavier duty ones for security. http://thmarine.com/lid-and-hat...

Re: 98X wants 90hp or not?
Second vote for Suzuki 90: relatively narrow, about the lightest 4 stroke 90 and only 20 lbs heavier than 2 stroke Etec, high gearing for motor sailor, low to fit tilted under seat, great economy, no expensive oil burning like etec. Note that bwy uses the 70hp Suzuki as a standard engine and the 90 ...

Re: Anyone using Drones from the Mac
We used a dji phantom 4 many times from the boat the past several weeks, and periodically had a problem initializing it from the boat if we had too much motion, but didn't really determine if the problem motion was rolling swell or lateral movement, happened about 25% of the time. A few times we ini...

Re: Which MFD should I pick for Raymarine Ev-100 Autopilot s
I like my a78, works great and is completely compatible with the ev100. I agree, stick with the same brand unless you have a compelling reason to intermix.
