ballast treatment

I add one gallon of inexpensive household bleach at the beginning of the season and that works great. And if it works with Mississippi River water, it will work anywhere. It's cheap and simple. :wink:

Thanks for the comments Paul. I'm kind of disappointed that there is not more response to this poll. I have wheel steering and have been trying to back with the rudder down. Because of the motor well you can't hand steer the motor. All of the other sailboats in the marina have their motors on bracke...

How many out there?

We are newbies. Our '94 26S is our first boat and this is our first season. It has been a challenge learning to sail in the Mississippi River with it's varible depth, variable current, endless odstacles and air currents that swirl and die. Hey Vince I just went through that nightmare. I recently purchased a '94 26S and had inspected, cleaned and reconditioned everything. We put it in a slip, took it out sailing and discovered water in the battery area. Further inspection turned up water in the side lockers under the settees. I had to ...
