BWY window holes not lining up

I purchased a full set of windows for my 2000 X, and while the side windows are fine, the forward windows are not. Only 4 of the 6 holes line up for each window. In the included instructions BWY suggests drilling a larger hole in the cabin in this case, but that sounds super sketchy to me. If the su...

Re: Origo stove caution

+1 to all those who said don't overfill the Origo. I did it once in twenty years because 'there's just a little bit left in the bottle', and had to put out a fire in the metal box underneath the burner. The legs that hold up the fuel canister don't get stronger with time, so best to leave it less th...

Re: trailer sailor or not?

Do you trailer it or wet slip it? How old are you? I ask because when I bought my X over twenty years ago I was in my early 30's and needed to save money so off-marina storage was my only option. When I was in my late 30's I had some more money and wanted less work so I moved to the mast-up storage...

Re: Being your own surveyor when purchasing a boat

The boat has no thru hulls aside from the sink drains, so hull inspection is pretty basic. Ya gotta get under there for centerboard inspection, so there's that. Otherwise its the dangly bits (rudders, outboard, mast, rigging) that needs to be inspected after that. Finish it off with tanks, gauges an...

Re: Is the classified section closed?

Back when I started searching for one back in 1999, there were only ~12 26X's for sale at a time on the used market throughout the entire US. It took me two years before I found the one that met my specifications, and in 2001 I had to drive from CA to MI to get it.

Re: Water/Fuel filter and separator

For those of you who have installed external water separators, where did you mount them? I've wanted to install one on my X, but couldn't figure out the best way to do so. If you also have pictures that would be great.

Re: Original rubrail replacement for X?

@Ivan Awfulitch - was your rubrail purchased recently? There's another (recent) thread in the Powersailor Discussion forum where the OP states that what he received from BWY was made of vinyl and thinner than the original. My guess is that whatever rubrail BWY is selling these days is made by Taco M...

Original rubrail replacement for X?

I'm in need of a rubrail replacement, and after searching it seems that the BWY replacement is inferior to the original. Does anyone know where to procure a rubrail that is equal to the original?

Re: Which Battery Charger to buy?

After going through 2 failed Xantrex Truecharge 20 units in less than 4 years, I went with the Promariner 20/3 and am happy with it. Wish I would've chosen the Promariner in the beginning.

I ordered mine direct from the manufacturer - Heyco. I'm not allowed to post a web address here, but you can look them up online if you add the standard suffix to the name.

Yamaha F50 idling high

I'm hoping that someone will know the cause of / solution to my problem. My 99 Yamaha F50 idles fine upon starting (800 - 1000 rpm), and if I'm only cruising the harbor it's OK, but if I'm out in the Pacific running the engine awhile (above 4000 rpm), when I shift into neutral it continues to idle b...

I was about to post the same when I came across this one. Just received my 12:1, along w/ simple instructions like mentioned. I remember from old board that some members had difficulties determining optimum placement of the tracks - do any owners of the Garhauer have measurements that work best? Als...
