See if you can switch it from US to International frequencies.
They use different frequencies, and some VHF radios have this ability (my ICOM does - but I don't have the model number handy).

Re: Freezer Fridge Ozefridge
Rockman, We don't have bulletin's for freezer or cooling for a Mac. X or M. Best system I have used is the Adler Barber system and that comes with air or Water cooled system. Water system means you have to have a Thur hull water intake with water strainer in Latitudes below 25 degrees Lat, air cool...

Freezer Fridge Ozefridge
As a past 26M owner, I thought others may be interested in my story of a modifcation I recently made to my new keel boat. If you are considering a built in fridge/freezer on your Mac, then one of these may be the answer. In this fast paced world, many people forget to thank those that go the extra m...

Re: Anchor Caution
I used a lightweight Fluke anchor, in the last storm that we got caught in, it held really well. It had 10m of 3/8" chain and then silver rope. The winds were strong enought to knock some other trailer sailers over - under bare poles. But the anchor held solid. When we went to leave, I could no...

Re: Newbee says a'hoy
Do your trailers have the additional goal posts? These really make a big difference in getting the boat back on the trailer in a crosswind. I was told you can always tie some ropes from the rear goal posts to the front of the trailer, to help stopping the boat drifting off the trailer.

Re: Weather Protection
I always wanted something to give me protection while at anchor. I used an old tent fly as a boom tent, that went from the start of the boom, and linked to the bimini. This provided plenty of shade, but when it was raining, the rain would still seem to get into the cabin. So, I would have liked to h...

Re: Bitter sweet Holiday at the Gippsland Lakes
If your engine is set to use the 100 oil, then it should mix the oil at a 1:100 ratio, so the 1.7litres should be enough for 170 litres of fuel. I never bothered changing over to the 100 oil, as I had a 4litre container of 50:1 oil. I would fill the tank at the start of each season - and never even ...

Yes, I will still be here - too many smart people, with great mods, all can be applied to the new Catalina.

Re: THE WORST DAY
Hi Pugsy,
I know how you feel - I still look out to the cornor of the yard to see the boat, only to see an empty concrete pad.
I am sure it will take a little while to get used to not having a Mac - but hopefully the Catalina 375 will compensate

Rock The Boat - Sold
Hi Team Aussie, Well the day finally arrived, and the 26M was hooked up to a different tow hack and headed out the driveway for the last time. It was a sad day, we have had some great times on the Mac, with plenty of family adventures that will be talked about for years. The Mac replacement? A Catal...

Re: Question about connection of 2 way batt switch
I think the need for two batteries to start the engine is "old school diesel". The modern batteries that all the current 2 and 4 stroke engines that are fitted to the average mac, should only need one charged battery to get them started. With modern technology, you can setup a system that ...

Re: Combined Dinghy Davits Solar Panel Rack?
I have a set of mounts at the back of the mac - over the engine (there should be a photo in the mod section). http://www.macgregorsailors.com/modt/index.php?viewimg=1853 Comments: One big panel is heavy to lift and get into position, but 120W give you plenty of power to play with. Originally I bolte...

Hi Keith,
I found the biggest factor on fuel economy is speed. At WOT the etec 50 guzzles the fuel. But cruise along at 6 knots and the tank is almost full at the end of the weekend.
Cheers

Re: Headroom in the head ...
If you modify the hinge position and cut the bottom of the door - you can set it up so that the door swing out over the cushions on the other side - gives you heaps more room to do the business, and you can still use it as it was originally intended - if you want to.

Re: Australian modifications on US towing Hitch and surge brakes
I have the same setup - but still have the safety wire. To test the reversing function, try reversing up a slight incline (Phil showed me how to do this in his driveway). My copper brake pipe broke off at the end, and had to be replaced. I realised there was something wrong when everytime I slowed d...
