Re: Composting toilets
The overwhelming number of composting toilet users (particularly on the east coast) are going to just throw the contents in the trash which probably includes all the cases you listed. I get many more people on the west coast who really want to compost the waste completely. It is a cultural thing. A ...

Re: Composting toilets
Uh, the cycle of that recycle is just a little too short for my comfort The sweet potatoes are not meant to be eaten, just to make it look nice. In a survival situation, for which the system is designed, they can be eaten because you have to bake them first, but that requires more detail and is off...

Re: Composting toilets
I would like to post a suggestion for those of you that are realling wanting to manage your waste in a responsible way. Some people don't want to dump offshore or don't go offshore or are on the Great Lakes. If you are concerned about that kind of disposal, and I respect your decision, you probably ...

Re: Composting toilets
Hello TomB. Can you elaborate on why you think this? Both are great toilets, and both are in my opinion superior to the other less expensive brand one reads about.

Re: Composting toilets
Fantastic job Robert. Shipshape and Bristol fashion. The cabinet is way cool. Any chance you could post a drawing of the dimensions. I think you set the bench mark for future installations.

Re: Composting toilets
Well I finally got to see the inside of a Macgregor 26M. Dr. Ron Brown came by to pick up his C-Head on his way from NC to the Keys for vacation. We removed the brackets for the porta-pottie without too much trouble. It was bolted down but the nuts were accessable from under the dinette seat. It doe...

Just FYI, I have put a "Buy Now" button on the C-Head website for the MacGregor modification. Thanks for the invitation to participate and happy cruising/sailing.

Re: Composting toilets
John Waters - The other "Pride of Baltimore" and a man obsessed with poop. You're dating yourself Keith.
Sum, the best I can offer as far as 'odorama" goes, is to watch the C-Head videos and then take a quick sniff of a freshly exhumed potato everytime I lift the lid. Anywhooo . . .

Re: Composting toilets
If you have never experienced using a composting toilet on your boat, then it is hard to believe that there can be no poop smell, but alas, it is true. Here is the smelly truth. The C-Head uses a churning process, that is a single blade at the bottom of the bucket creates a wave like motion in the c...

Re: Composting toilets
Hello Dick, To answer your questions, first there is no longer a difference between the BoonJon and the C-Head. It got to be too much of a hassle with two versions so now both the BoonJon and the C-Head are marine grade. The BoonJon is seperated on my website because the application is totally diffe...

Re: Composting toilets
Thanks for your input. Yes, the bottom of the C-Head can only be raised 3" so the overhang will be off the cabin sole by 2" as shown in the photo. I would suggest that a small 2"H x14"Wx6"D built up platform be installed on the sole so that the front of the C-Head rests on s...

Re: Composting toilets
I haven't figured out how to attach photos to this forum so click here http://www.c-head.com/Macgregor.html to see the modified version. One picture is of how the modified C-Head toilet would look and one of how to modify the cardboard mock up to make it resemble the Macgregor version. Hope this is ...

Re: Composting toilets
Thank you for the link and someone has sent me a good plan view of the MacGregor 26M series. I have subsequently learned that not all MacGregors have the same plan so I will have to take advantage of any offers to see the layout first hand in order to learn more. Just for general information, I curr...

Re: Composting toilets
With the C-Head, you transfer the solid waste by pouring it from the collection container to another 5 gallon bucket which is disposable. The C-Head comes with a "ventilation hood" as I call it which fits on top of any 5 gallon bucket (which are available with lock-on lid at Home Depot for...
