Re: My Title shows 26ft yet the brochure says 25ft 10inchs
I think there are towing restrictions over 26 feet. Macgregor got clever with the width, also. Another couple inches either way and you could not tow it behind a car, or a truck without special permits. My title says 25 feet.

Re: A starter boat?
My first sailboat is my :macx: . I used to be a motor boater, and felt some apprehension at the idea of going so slow. I bought my Mac BECAUSE it is a compromise. I have my cake and eat it, too. Plus I can camp in it. 3 in 1, I couldn't be happier. I'll hitch a ride with someone if I feel the need f...

Fishing for Suggestions
Greetings mates I raised my mast towing cradles by adding a roller to my new arch at the stern, and a jury-rigged extension on the bow pulpit. Now, when in mast-down trawler mode, I have extra headroom. Enough to raise the Bimini, and not bump my head. When on its trailer, maximum height is a couple...

Re: Slip usage?
Three words. Fabric Softener Sheets. I keep my :macx: in my driveway, cracked open to improve air circulation. This Fall/Winter it's been stored mast up with boom, sail, & cover in place, as I'm working on it. I have problems with wasps, ants, spiders, Bumble Bees, rodents, and bats. I stuff a s...

I did this:

Note that I did not use sealer or adhesive. No leaks years later.

Re: Backing original 26X trailer
Lucky Drifter. Don't know what year your trailer is, but this is what I did to my '02. Your configuration may vary. There is a pair of 'loops' on the front of the sliding tongue, up against the box that contains the brake master cylinder. I was able to put a large bolt thru the loops, thus preventin...

Re: Double Spreader Mod
Hi Sailors Macgregor changed the :macx: mast during it's run. My 2002 spreader brackets are fastened to mast with screws. The early models had a bolt thru the mast to attach the spreader brackets, I think that was a weak point they corrected. I suspect other changes, too. I recently tried a mast gat...

Re: Outboard confusing issues
fritz3000g. This is all my OPINION. Based on 50+ years as a mechanic, and limited info of your situation. I'm looking online at a Yamaha T9.9W manual. First off, if you don't have a operators/owners manual, and a factory or after market service/repair manual, get them. Download free, or buy a book. ...

Re: Outboard confusing issues
May I toss in my 2cents? Up front, I'm not familiar with your outboard, but I am with those symptoms. I'd say you've ruled out fuel delivery (pump, tank, hose, etc), almost ruled out carb. You said there is a carb bowl, so there must be one or more fuel pickups, that have small orifices, feeding sma...

Re: Valterra gate valve
Those will both fit. Macgregor used a (what is here in the States) standard RV waste gate valve. I replaced my :macx: 's valve with a plastic one from Valterra with a 6 foot cable instead of a handle. You should visit Valterra's website and check out their products, I think they have an extended han...

Re: Stuck Centerboard
Sailing without the centerboard down can be dangerous. I had a small chunk of tree branch get wedged between the board and the top of the trunk. Could barely see it under trailer with a flashlight, and was so far up in the centerboard trunk that I could not reach it. I had to jack my boat above the ...

Re: Looking for easy Mac boarding in campground
I cut the lower half from an old, bent aluminum ladder. Unevenly, so it would stand straight against the stern. I then attached a board to front legs, an old broom head to the rear legs, and a pair of corks to prevent rubbing on the stern ( I'll replace the cork, it keeps breaking off ). I can brush...

Re: how high is the mast support
Beware the towing height! I raised my pedestal mast support, to find the top of the mast was over 12 feet above the ground when towing. I raised the pulpit mast support, and adjusted the pedestal support height, so I could raise the bimini without disturbing the mast, and have a maximum towing heigh...

Re: Boat off trailer
Don't make a big deal out of this, it's easier than you think. I concur with Tomfoolery and Don T, floor jack and wood blocks. Your boat, loaded, only weighs about as much as a mid sized car. How hard is it to jack up and safely support your car? I suggest lifting only a couple inches above the trai...
