Re: Polishing Oxidation ??

Yes, they're all black gelcoat. The only decal on there is the boat name that I put on.

But I'm asking about a way to restore the black lines on deck to their original beauty?

If I use a cut n polish, it doesn't seem to actually polish to a bright sheen.

Ideas?

Re: Polishing Oxidation ??

You do the power buffing with the marine wax ... without removing the oxidation first? Or after?

Polishing Oxidation ??

Hello all. I have the Mac 26, 2 years old. It's a good boat. QUESTIONS: The two black stripes on the upper hull are fading, getting a white chalky look to them. Is that chalkiness Oxidation ITSELF, the black part; or is it oxidation from the white above, that's running down onto the black? (Because ...

Re: Furling Jib Cover?

I tell you what: I am pleased to hear of people who have sailed their boat until the sails start to fall apart. That's beautiful: live, live, live, every minute you're alive.

I'm thankful for the opportunity to enjoy life.

Re: Who here actually keep up to date sail logs?

I"ve never kept a sailing log, as I see no point. My adventures are in my head, and I don't think anyone will ever care to read any I could write. I do keep a flight log as required in aviation, and no one wants to read that, either... For me, the living of life, contemplating the Big PIcture (...

Re: Furling Jib Cover?

Ok. It's coming together. Mike gave me same advice, per new one in 3-4 years. I"m getting they're not all made alike, but I won't use mine all that often, and certainly not in heavywinds like Mike has been known to do. Maybe I'll check around and see if there is a foot/leech cover that can reas...

Furling Jib Cover?

HI guys, I have the 26m, furlng jib, and I was wondering if anyone felt it important to get a cover for that jib, a strip up the leech and foot that covers it when furled. HOw long will jib last if it's furled but in the sun? how long before it really matters? Better to just wait and buy anotehr jib...

Re: Math Question

IRadar folks have worked on this problem for many years, and here's a good site that somewhat explains it: http://www.rfcafe.com/references/electrical/ew-radar-handbook/radar-horizon-line-of-sight.htm :) I took a look at this. This is what I'm looking for. But I went though college without taking o...

Re: Math Question

I think Jen's question is rather more complicated. What she is asking, if I get it right, is what % of a boat is hidden below the Earth's curvature, at a given distance, :) Yes. That's it. I'm wondering: I'm sailing along. My eye is maybe 6' above the water. I see an island. How much of the island ...

Math Question

Hello all, (Jenna sets down her mineral water, puts feet up on settee.) I've been wondering, out of curiosity: If I'm sailing on the ocean, and I see something in the distance, how much of it can I see as we approach one another? Can someone who knows math please give me an equation I can use? I can...

Re: Motoring Without Water Ballast

Ok. Listening and doing some thinking, I'm thinking maybe calm water no blast ok for short speed run. For trip to Catalina from Channdl Islands Harbor, safety very big factor. I will leave bslast water in, motor at about 18 mph, sea permitting, for increased stability and readiness to convert to sai...

Mac Attack

I've been wondering:

Macs are probably one of the most numerous kinds of boats. I've heard of other kinds having races or events particular to their type.

Are there Mac gatherings? Cruises? Races?
