Re: MacGregor Sailing Accident - Safety Reminder
I fill ballast early in the season and never empty it until the end. I just don't see the benefit of running sans ballast. Oh, I guess if you want to eek out more MPH or fuel economy it makes sense. I own a Mac not a Malibu and spend so much on other things, fuel is the least of my expenses. Bottom...

Re: Curtains in time for Christmas heat
Doing the similar with my M for this summer. Got some cheap car shades, double sided reflective with foam core. Cut them to shape and size and they just slip in behind the inside lining. Job done.

Re: Bear Hunt 1st YouTube Video
Do they have a drone that can crash in saltwater and not be ruined? Ix I have a "Spry+" (no longer being sold) from Swellpro which is waterproof, can be launched from water and can recover from inversion. Have yet to film my boat and will do so this season. Swellpro sell larger drones tha...

Re: Why didnt I know this 10 years ago??
Pardon me for asking, but why not re-anchor with the bow facing the swell. I don't have swells on the lakes I sail in. It looks to me like you have great holding for the area. Australia doesn't have lakes, we all sail in the ocean here. The ocean has swells. a Re-anchor will do nothing to solve the...

Re: 26M Daggerboard
Sadly I'll be buying one of those replacement daggerboards from BWY in the very near future. My daggerboard somehow dropped down while being towed along a bumpy road despite being both locked off and cleated off and got ground down to a very sad looking stub of a thing :? But I'm at least glad ther...

Re: New trailer Rollers vs Bunks
I think you have to look at where the cross trailer bunks are and look at the bulkheads/stringers inside the boat. I think you will find that the bunks correspond to the strong points of the hull. I once bought a roller trailer for a small plywood sailboat (a Hartley 16) and managed to punch the rol...

Re: To Boomkicker or not
Boomkicker for me. I had my boat for a couple of years before I got one. I rigged up a topping lift and found I had to continually adjust it depending on how high I wanted the boom when not sailing and then lowering when sailing. Got a Boomkicker and, once fitted, it just works. The only time you to...

Re: Whitsundays Inflatable Tender
Hi Webb, I have a inflatable tender that I push around with a small 3.5hp Mercury 4-stroke. I tow it with a floating towing yoke (so it won't sink and foul the propellor). I have stored it, inflated, on the foredeck but that creates issue with docking and climbing over it by my crew. I have found th...

Re: Bent Mast
I don’t think so. At least try and get bent it straighter. You’ll have to support it where needed and load it (beyond straight). Mast is stronger than you might think. Locate a local millwright or metal worker to assist if you’re not comfortable with the job. It has to be done safely Search this si...

Re: New mast
How badly is the mast bent? It may be able to be straightened. Had a bend in my M26 mast and managed to get it out. Tried doing if myself but then went to a rigger who did the job for me. Essentially you suspend the mast either side of the bend and apply weight at the bend. In my case I couldn't app...

Re: Anyone else have a 26M with a locked (non-rotating) mast?
I tried to do it myself by propping the mast either side of the bend but I couldn't get enough constant t pressure down on the bend ie my weight and additional suspended weight. Elected to go to a rigger who had an anchor point cemented to the floor of his workshop. Suspend the mast and block a tack...

Re: Mast barely rotating.
Have you looked at the straightness of the mast. I bent my mast and as a result it would not rotate. Got it straightened and viola back to rotating agan.
