Re: Egmont Key or Caledesi around Christmas
We were talking about doing something around that area 12/25-12/30.... we were looking at the city of Dunedin marina as her mom lives within a mile of there and we could kill two birds with one stone (visit the MIL for the holiday and take the boat out!!) Please keep me up to date with your plans as...

Re: Fuel tanks
Those new tanks have CARB-compliant vents now, don't they? Lots of pressure build up when they warm up. :? I do not like the new EPA fuel caps, when it does get hot outside, it doesn't seem to vent the fumes out properly and the tanks swell up from square to round, I have tried to mess with the spr...

Re: Fuel tanks
I installed the Moeller 12 gal tanks in mine last year (one on each side). I had no problems sliding them in through the opening with the cap off and with the filler neck toward the inside. I installed a round inspection hatch over the fill cap so that I didn't have to keep pulling the tanks in and ...

Re: Sail repair.
I just had some stitching repaired on my main for $70 by a shop in St. Pete, FL. he quoted me $300 to replace the UV strip on the Genoa, but I am still on the fence on that one, he seems to think it will last another year before needing replaced so i might hold off and put that $ somewhere else! Mounting CDI to mast hound
Was wondering what to use to attach the CDI Furler to the top mast hound? MY :macx: oringally came with a 1/4" bolt and a squash nut (with the jib halyard block squished in the same mount) but reading up on the CDI manual, it states to use a toggle. Should I continue using the 1/4" bolt an...

Re: Mac Trawler....
"5200" is a below the water line sealant made by 3M..... I would look at other forms of sealant on items that screw on above the water line (or might be subject to removal in the future) as 5200 bonds itself to everything and when you go to remove it or replace the item later on in life wi...

Re: Mac Trawler....
Gypsy Life, I use my :macx: quite often in CR and usually leave the mast at home when we go over for the day to go to the springs with the kids..... I don't notice any difference in stabilty with the boat. We are talking about going over next week for the 4th, let me know if you'll still be over the...

Re: Black Gelcoat stripes
I called a mobile RV/Boat detail guy last night and he said $15/ft to clean the topside and sides, all railings, and polyglow the entire boat...... I'll try to finish the boat this weekend and see what "my method" looks like before I go spending my gas/beer money!!

Re: Black Gelcoat stripes
After working a small area of the black stripe toward the transom I've decided to put the buffer down and apply by hand many, many, many coats of wax to the boat. It took 3 layers last night on the port side to get a minimal shine back to it. I figure I'll do 1 side per night after work this week an...

Black Gelcoat stripes
I spent countless hours cleaning and waxing my :macx: when I first got it home, but after several times using the boat I have noticed the need for a deeper clean so I purchased a bottle of Nortons liguid-ice and was going to buff the boat when I got off work today, but beore I do and create a bigger...

'97 Yamaha F50 prop
I have been all through the archives to look for a "recommended" prop and have come to the conclusion that every :macx: seems to be different depending on motor and weight. so here is my question: I am (was) currently running an 11-5/8 X 11 3 blade and can achieve 5000 RPM's and 17 mph @ W...
