Broken Keel Wire

Happened to me my fourth time out. I just motored the boat into the concrete ramp (don't have to go fast), pulled the boat (like normal) using mooring line then the trailer winch onto the trailer and drove away. The keel will hit the concrete ramp (not even that hard) then swing up into partially up...

Re: Lee Helm Mac 22

Good points. Keel was all the way down. I assume the rudder was all the way down, but sometimes it drags back when its choppy.

Re: Winch stuck - Forespar#6

Some of you who are struggling with these winches may benefit from going to http://www.forespar.com/products/winch-marelon.shtml and looking at the "installation tab". There is a slotted bushing that , if not lined up right will cause the center phillips screw to rotate and either come com...

Bilge pump system Mac 22

I have read a bunch of posts on bilge pump systems here but have not seen one for the MAC 22. I don't have one presently, but am keeping it at a slip now and would like to put two auto pumps in along with a solar panel to keep the battery charged. Can anyone give me a layout for a system you have us...

Lee Helm Mac 22

I need some help solving my strong Lee helm. Yesterday I was out sailing on the Delaware in 15-20k winds with my (boom roller) reefed main and OEM jib. Before I put up the jib the boat would strongly pull away from the wind and could not tack well. I "hove to" simply by turning the rudder ...

hidden leak-85 Mac 22

I need some help. I have a leak (1-2"/hour) that showed up after I parked my boat at a slip for the first time after a 4 hour sail on delaware bay-no groundings, etc. The boat has always leaked when it rains heavily but I never noticed much when sailing, but it is possible it was leaking when s...

Re: Sails

Bob-you are correct. The website has been updated to now include sail options for the Mac22. This is a welcome new addition (and she did get back to me). Thank You Judy.

Re: Sails

Hi Grady, (and everybody,) I apologize for dropping the ball, Grady. My website forwards the mail to me, but I don't recall seeing yours. I'll check the email system and reply right now. I've been overwhelmed getting a new boat ready for the Havasu Show. I've been doing the tooling to cast a lead b...

Re: Sails for Mac 22

Anyone else-is it worthwhile getting a genoa when the wind is consistently over 10K?

Re: Sails for Mac 22

OS-thanks, this is helpful. Anyone else have thoughts on whether it is useful to buy a genoa when the winds here are mostly above 10K and I am buying an asym anyway?
Genny-Yes/No.

Sails for Mac 22

I know some of you have experience with the Mac.venture 22 and would love to know your thoughts on a Genoa. Have an 85 MAC 22 with stock sails (only headsail is standard jib). We sail on the Delaware where it meets the Atlantic and there is almost always a strong breeze especially in the Fall, WInte...
