Re: Fresh water storage in sausage style tubes in ballast ta
Weight shift issues would concern me with this mod so I'd stay away from it. Also if you are a saltwater sailor you might run into osmosis issues, contamination, ruptured membrane by rough fiberglass interior, etc.

Re: Ground (battery to engine) wire crimp failure/meltdown
Quick update here, no electrical damage found and things are back to normal after replacing both positive and negative wires with a continuous 4 gauge tinned wire run from battery to engine. Truth of the matter is, when you pay somebody to run cables for you, if they run out of wire halfway through ...

Re: Ground (battery to engine) wire crimp failure/meltdown
Thanks for the advice. The good thing about sailing your boat frequently is that it forces you to keep her up in good shape. As boundaries get pushed, "weak links" break, and if you survive it, or if you do a good inspection prior to it and catch the "weak link" before it breaks,...

Re: mast rasing device failure
Good to hear you are ok Blowboater! I am always mindful that the biggest danger when working on my Mac while she sits on the the hard is falling overboard. You could end up in a wheelchair, God forbid. I prefer to lower and raise the mast in calm waters.

Re: Ground (battery to engine) wire crimp failure/meltdown
Still waiting for the electrician to come by and give his assessment... Still bothered by the fact that I put great care in rewiring all wires from battery to comfort devices (new LED's, refrigerator, new stereo, fans, spotlight, etc) using only tinned wires and waterproof, heat shrinking crimps. Ho...

Ground (battery to engine) wire crimp failure/meltdown
This was a very close call.... We experienced ground wire meltdown coming back from our trip over the weekend. We had been out sailing for 4 days. Some background info: Engine is a Honda BF50. Meltdown occurred on original wiring job (1997 or so). Recently replaced a faulty regulator/rectifier. Batt...

Re: Imminent forestay pin failure?
I personally got rid of all the rings after experiencing forestay failure. Not long after having purchased my 1997 26 X, we took her out for a sail. The ring that secured the rolling furler to the deck was somewhat rusted. It worked its way loose while under sail. It happens that just by chance, a f...

Re: Anchors and anchor rollers
My 26X came with a couple of knockoff Danforths, truly both a POS. I have a 7# Fortress hanging from a pair of brackets from the rail. It works excellent on sandy bottoms, and has held overnight on 25 knot winds and 3' of chain (7:1 scope). I love the light weight, as I don't have a windlass, but ju...

That is correct. Pic taken dead ahead. Past around 20° or so only one light is seen.DaveB wrote:Problem is I can see both lights. One should have lights dead ahead to two points (22 degrees) abaft the beam.
Ck that out and you may have taken that picture dead ahead.Ck on a small offset of 5 degrees.

Lol! That's my wife. That little beach is shallow but it drops to a 10 foot depth at the edge. Great for fishing. Yea, it looks like it's 4 inches deep and just a head and arms floating in the yellow thing. Water looks fantastic. So where exactly is this great little beach? or is it your secret spo...

Re: Just added an Electric Anchor Winch to our MX26
Hello, and thank you for sharing such a nice mod. I am in the process of installing an anchor roller on my 26X. I am reluctant to touch or move the plate were the rolling furler attaches, since this plate runs all the way to the inside hull, were it is bolted. I've seen some people eliminate this pl...

Re: Marpac LED Bowlights
Got caught up having too much fun this Columbus Day Weekend, so I couldn't take a pic out in the water, but I have this crappy pic I took at night while under tarps on the trailer. They are certainly a lot brighter than the original bow bulb that came from the factory. They cover a range of about 12...
