26M Aluminum Trailer Rebuild
My previous owner apparently didn't rinse my 2008 Aluminum trailer after use in the ocean. Now, the brakes and the actuator are shot, the tongue is suspect, and the hubs are a mess. After suffering a blowout on the freeway in the middle of the night, which destroyed one of the fenders, I've decided ...

Re: Cruise to Desolation Sound this summer
I've been thinking about trailering from Portland to Anacortes, ferry to Victoria, then driving 300 miles to Telegraph Bay to launch there. Explore the Broughton Islands and mainland fjords, with an eye for marine life and bears. Anybody done anything like that? Open to comments - thinking about doi...

Fire on Lake Union in Washington
Looks like a big fire last night at the building/marina immediately north of Blue Water Yachts. Looks like they were spared. A nice 26M featured in the video! We did a demo sail there a few year ago. Tight area for a fire. Scary stuff. Hopefully this link will work: http://www.komonews.com/news/loca...

Re: 26m C-head installation pictures?
I took three photos of my simple installation last evening, but have not figured out how to post them. Very happy with the C-Head. I use one gallon ziplock bags to hold the composting medium. I use cedar bedding material (pellets) that I soak, pulverize to sawdust, then dry. Sounds complicated but I...

Re: Went Racing
Hello fellow Portland area people! Have you ever tried Cascade Locks? Nice and wide there, good winds (watch forecast), and two ramp options. I've launched at Cascade Locks Marine Park and across the river at Stevenson. Beautiful area!

Re: bow thrusters
That full fins and speed comment is spot on. I had strong winds in Port Townsend this past weekend that were trying to push me towards the boat on the port side. But going in with good momentum at a nice angle, turning sharp, and applying a burst of reverse worked very well. Kissed the bumpers just ...

Re: Headroom in 26M Head
Wow...what did I start by asking about headroom? Here's my candid usage info on our C-Head, which we've used for 3 trips now. We are weekenders, so our trips are 3-5 days only. Pee jug lasts about a day and a half for me, wife and kid. I carry one extra. Very tidy operation, with absolutely no spill...

Re: Headroom in 26M Head
Sitting is fine on the C-Head. The Admiral's challenge (mine too) is getting pants up in a crouched position.

Re: Headroom in 26M Head
Well, door off, curtain in already. 6' for me, 5'4 for wife, and even she complains. Hard to deal with clothing when bent over. Sitting is the norm for our C-Head, expect for our 6-year old son.

Headroom in 26M Head
Anybody else frustrated by the lack of headroom in the :macm: head? The admiral and I were brainstorming the issue last weekend. How about a pop-top over the head area? For use at dock or anchor only. I can envision a good-sized opening hatch replacing the acrylic skylight, with some sort of canvas ...

Re: 26M Caught on the Columbia
I like that Island Cafe location, but the Columbia is certainly challenging there! Have you sailed at Cascade Locks, about 45 miles up river? A wide spot above Bonneville Dam, with less current, better scenery and wider. A nice little marina there too, including some transient space. World class sai...

26M Caught on the Columbia
I sometimes sail the Columbia, although not yet in my M26. I spotted this article and photo on the Three Sheets NW blog. A very good site for northwest sailors.

Re: Marina electrical connection
Anybody tried this system? Seems pretty easy to install, but might be at a premium cost?
