Re: Steering issue :(
I have no idea what knd it is. I'm going to have to plead complete ignorance here and hope for the best. He came highly recommended and has been repairing boats since 1972.
Fingers crossed.

Steering issue :(
A while back I asked some advice for our hard steering. I lubed and took photos over to have someone look at it and finally decided that we would hire someone to come take a look. While he was troubleshooting, something broke in the steering column and now the entire system needs to be replaced. Sad...

Re: Two More Newbie Questions
Yes I have my boaters education card and took a intro to sailing class. The reason I asked about the bilge pump is because we have someone re-wiring the boat and asked if I wanted one installed. The fender question was because I had a couple of different answers from different places I was looking. ...

Two More Newbie Questions
Hi all! I have a couple of questions! 1. What size fenders do you use on your :macx: ? I need to replace a couple and I wondered what everyone else used. 2. Bilge Pump: Do I need one? If so, where would it go? That's all I can think of at the moment. Thanks in advance! Kathryn martinisserenity.com

Re: Cleaning the boat :)
We just purchased our 1995 :macx: three weeks ago and although the owners took good care of it, we gave her a very thorough cleaning. I removed all the cushions, took off their covers, washed them and let the cushion part sit in the sun all day to try to get rid of the boat odor. I then made slipcov...

Re: First Family Trip Out: Disaster
Thanks for the steering advice! We bought some lube and applied generously although not on the cable itself because I have no idea how to take it apart. What we did helped some. We decided to have a guy come out to look at our wiring and he can look at the steering issue at the same time. We just th...

Re: First Family Trip Out: Disaster
Did you ever figure out the Steering issue? My steering was pretty well locked up when I took my 26x out for the first time. I had to disengage the linkage while out on the water and steer the rudder with my feet. It turned out just to need some lubrication. I didn't double check it before I shoved...

Stupid Galley Sink Question
Please don't laugh . . .
If one is using the galley sink pump, where does the water go once it goes down the drain?
Kathryn, who feels more incompetent every day!

Re: First Family Trip Out: Disaster
Smart to get a pro check out the motor. You need one that you can rely on. Looking at your jib, that looks really messed up. Hopefully you can get it sorted out. It should roll nice and neatly around the forestay. Seriously! We got it turned around the other day with help from our neighbors and unw...

Re: First Family Trip Out: Disaster
Thanks so much to you all for the kind words and advice! Just to answer a few of the questions/comments: We DO have a boat hook and know how to use it! We have taken boating education classes and an introductory sailing class; we learned on a Cal 22, which is definitely different than our new X! and...
