Re: Battery Chargers

Hey There, Our setup sounds similar. I use this one: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/3/Batteries/BatteryChargers/PRDOVR~0111521P/MotoMaster+Nautilus+15A+Onboard+Battery+Charger.jsp?locale=en I I mounted it to the inside wall under the long bench beside the galley, then ran 2 sets of wir...

Re: Installation of Solar Panels

If it was me, I would install a 12V outlet and plug the solar panel into it. Just make sure you turn off all of the other loads when you are trying to trickle charge the batteries.

Two quick questions

Hello all, I just have two quick ones for you guys. 1. The line that runs from the top of the mast to the back of the boom. Do I leave that on or take it off when the main sail is up? 2. When I am motoring in waves, the boat gets tossed badly, sometimes as much as 15-20 degrees off course, I know th...

Re: How does this look?

Sorry, I meant to add this to my last post. I should have explained better. Pictures 1 and 2: Do they look to be at the right angle? I know its impossible to tell but I don't think they are tight enough. Pictures 3,4 and 5 Is that set in the right spot? Should I have the halyard pulled up more, down...

How does this look?

Hey Guys, Can you take a look at these pictures and make some suggestions to improve the performance. I had to take them at night, sorry they are a bit hard to see. Re: My 1998 Mac X is very very slow while sailing.

We really need more info. OK, you are right I didn't give enough information. Are you having problems in light winds? moderate to high winds? Light, or heavy seas? I am having issues in all wind. I do have White Sail III so I am pretty good with sail trim. I am pretty sure it is either a tuning or ...

It sounds like maybe I should upgrade the sails. Can anyone recommend a good place to look?

Re: My 1998 Mac X is very very slow while sailing.

Aaron...macs have a lot of freeboard so they don't point too well. 55 degrees to wind at best without major mods On a beam reach, 90 degrees to wind, they perform well. The stock sails are basically crap and if your boat has been sailed on my favorite Great lake I almost guarantee the main is blown...

My 1998 Mac X is very very slow while sailing.

Hey Guys, I just bought a 1998 Mac X. So far it has been a blast fixing and cleaning it up. I have gotten out on Lake Ontario a few times now and let me tell you, it is one slow boat. The wind was pretty decent but we just seemed to be stalled. What are some things I can try to improve performance? ...
