Wow. Thanks for all the suggestions and info, guys
Somehow Yahoo decided the notification was junk and I did not think to check that folder until today. I'll try to read through the new info tomorrow.

Jib sheet questions
My V21 came with three headsails. Two are fractional jibs...about perhaps a 75% or so fractional and 100 and 125% relative to the mast. The third sail is a masthead 130. Only one of the sails (the 75%/100) has sheets attached, thus so far it is the only sail I've used. I would like to be able to use...

Re: Rudder dimensions
I guess if push comes to shove, you could trim it. How is the finish on it? If it is poor and you were going to re do it anyway that might be the best route. How wide and thick? I won't be back home for a couple of weeks and will try to take some measurements then. It is not "cosmetically pret...

Re: Rudder dimensions
57 inches over all length and 30 inches from the bottom to the lower pintel on my 1976 mac v 21. Thanks While it is not a huge distance mine is at least 33 inches from the bnottom pintle to the bottom of the rudder. I'd have to hook the trailer up to the truck to be sure, but this could well be the...

Rudder dimensions
I cannot put the rudder which came with my V21 on until the boat is in the water. This is pretty clumsy to do, and trying to leverage it up to remove it is even worse. I have seen other posts on the forum indicating that at least some other owners also have rudder/trailer combinations with the same ...

Re: Topside Painting Advice
I still need to take some photos and post them but wanted to update the progress on "Girasole" (more about the name in a moment). I have now completed the inside for now. I made a 20x30 table out of the same birch plywood I used for the cabinets I had built, and fabricated brackets for sno...

Here are a few more after some more work. We took out all that was wet and rotten. Cleaned the mold and dirt-divers out and scraped the loose paint. http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a636/SailingVirginia/OTHREE11-HP/Pictures/1971%20Venture%20222/1-27-2013/DSC01770.jpg http://i1287.photobucket.com...

Re: Jib sheet running rigging
1/2" seems about right 3/8 would work, but not feel as good on the hands. but check to make sure it fits your winch, cleat and pulley hardware. I seem to remember reading a ballpark 1.5 x boat length for the sheet length. That's right about the 32' you were thinking about. You might want to ad...

Jib sheet running rigging
In addition to a working jib, my boat came with two additional headsails. Both are about 130% when running with a sloop rig (the boat can also be rigged as cutter). One is a masthead sail and the other is about a 3/4 or more fractional. Now that I have rationalized the in-cabin storage I would like ...

Re: Mac 22 shelves
I agree that it won't support a lot of weight. In my case the weight is supported on the floor. Absent the motion of the boat the cabinets stand there by themselves just fine. The tape merely prevents them from tilting over as the boat moves. Once I have some experience with the approach while actua...

Re: Mac 22 shelves
I tried using automotive adhesive trim tape for hoding fing pole holders to the ceiling. Worked great until things got hot and vibration from trailering and motoring helped everything fall down. Instituted plan B - screws! Interesting. You didn't references the specific product so i don't know if t...

Re: Mac 22 shelves
I wanted to wait until completing the project to report back. It's now done and I'm pleased with the results. So in the hope I can help someone else here's what I did. I wanted one cabinet on each side up against the step up to the V berth, with another smaller unit for documents and emergency equip...

Re: Topside Painting Advice
It's been a long time but I thought I'd report back on a couple of things. The Lowes here in town had no idea what I was talking about and neither their web site nor Home Depot's showed the Rustoleum Topside Paint. However, Amazon does carry it. I bought a quart of white, one of "Sand Beige,&qu...

Re: Best LED navigation lights?
From the really tight grouping of the LEDs on each side, I'd guess they're all sealed up or otherwise potted into two groups, which should make them fairly tough. Hopefull the electronics is similary potted and impervious to water. But the price is incredibly low, at least compared to what I'm used...
