Re: Boarding the 26M using the motor

That's exactly how I use the motor on my 26M. Been doing it for two years with no problems and I am not considered ... umm ... small. :)

Although we never step on the cavitation plate. We use a line tied off with loops to help pull-up and this makes a big difference.

Re: Doyle sail tear

You would have to post a picture to really make a comment. The biggest worry is that it would tear more. Think of sail tape as not very effective and temporary at best. My foot started tearing on both ends after about a year. It cost me $50 to get it fixed and it is wearing well.. These are not hear...

Re: Genoa furler sticking

It is not normal and there are a bunch of things that can cause the problem. - Check to make sure your furled halyard is running freely (as mentioned, if it is rubbing on something that can make it hard) - Check to make sure you do not have a bind in the drum - Make sure the jib halyard is not bindi...

Their online catalog leaves a lot to be desired. Give them a call, they will know exactly what you are looking for. Re: First time out - exhausted !

It's always more work until you are comfortable with boat. :)

Still these 15-30 minute setups are a bunch of poo so don't let if bother you. It's a bit of work to trailer, that's why I am in a slip. :)

Take your time, set it up correctly.

Good luck.

Re: "Dinghy" for the Mac

I have the RU-260 from West Marine. Can inflate it on the bow and toss it in. Keep a Honda 2hp on the back stern rail.

The RU-260 can be rolled up and stored down below in several spots but I tend to keep it in the rear berth.

Re: Macgregor 26M Hatch slide eating gel coat

Dave,

I'm in Florida so the velcro may not be a great solution. Too bad, it sounds easy.

It would seem as mentioned that putting a bit at the front and back would be all that is required as it would lift the whole thing up and ride on the velcro.

Macgregor 26M Hatch slide eating gel coat

My hatch slide is eating thru the gel oat. How do you repair this and prevent future problems?

I am thinking that I will need to take the hatch off and suspect this is what the caps (in the cabin ceiling)that seem to align with the screws on the cabin hatch are for.

Re: sail slide with the M

The sail stop is pretty useless and results in the problems you have noted. Blue Water Yachts sells a sail gate that will solve you problems.

Love mine.
