cutting a vent hole in the fuel locker

I want to drill a hole/install a vent in port and starboard fuel lockers on the forward bulkhead end. Anyone know how much foam/distance till you reach the interior bulkhead? (X boat)

Re: Yamaha 9.9 stalls at idle and low throttle - please advi

After having same (very common) problems, I always run dry and drain the float bowl on my 2.5hp 4 stroke. Leave fuel any length of time in there and they clog. idle jet is the worst. I can come back to them now, assured they will start. My 5hp, will behave for a few weeks untouched. You can run for ...

Re: Replacing Standing Rigging

Other option is swageless - cheap, DIY, and can reuse. Did mine using HIMOD 6 years ago. Also have swaged with a handmade tool same principle as the hand tool above, but clamped in a vice. Test cut the connection, joints were seamless, going on 6 years in all weather too.

Re: Where to store cabin door?

I store it verticaly side up against the head rear angled bulkhead/gap between the cushion. small bungee loop secures to the top step hinge for rough weather. I can fit or remove it by reaching down from the compionway. (26x)

Re: Genoa Furler Pin Failure - Mast came down.

put a small loop in the halyard near to where its fixed on the pulpit, put a bungee between the two, it keeps tension to stop fouling/not pull on the mast, and still allow backstay adjustment (if have one)

Re: Helm failure 2001 26x

replaced a rack with the rotech planetary - note, I had to open up the hole. so screwed some wood behind it, found the centre and used a hole cutter. 2000 x model. They still have some slop though. about 5-10 degrees.

As i mentioned, could well be the bow area, that collects til an inch or two reaches the holes. only then will it spill over. Heeling though will dump it both sides. Re: Water incursion

motor well leak (and cables/console leak if no cushions/lying loose) will end up in the REAR centre or sides bilges (or both ) depending how much water come in. mostly depends on what part of the hose come loose? if overflowing from the rear starboard bilge? then will drain to the cool box outer sta...

Re: Layout of the rear bilge on a 26X

the two rear centre bilges fill up independently, then overspill the lips towards the front, into the starboard bilge under the coolbox area, and/or the centre board box bilge in the same area. they will do this at rest if ewnough water , and also when heeled. ie, once dried out, water can again app...

Re: Question on raising the gooseneck after mast replacement

Mast rake is a factor , mine was std 4d deg or more and would foul the bimini. I run it a degree or two off vertical with some prebend. Its pretty nuetral at the helm.

tip, do something about the mast wires, they clang internally, gets on your nerves,

Re: Dinghy again..

I have "3d tender" lightweight 200cm dinghy that goes in to its own large backpack. will go a bike rack. about 12.5kg.

also have a large tube 10ft dingy and its the small one I use all the time. Larger crusier boats this side of the pond are increasingly going light and small.

Re: Trailer sway - what to do and how to react?

if it starts swerving, don't keep trying to correct it - gun it hard and pull it back into line, settle in a straight line then slow/brake.
