Re: MacGregor 19
Hey Bill how do you get your top up? I know that the top is hinged at the front from the factory. Here is a pic of that blue boats sliding hatch. I plan to do something similar but will have the whole top pop up as well. Something similar to the 2nd photo. https://i.postimg.cc/4myhWPwQ/Mac-19-slidin...

Re: MacGregor 19
That Blue Mac 19 is back on E-bay again.
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/393049012171?ul_noapp=true
The "Buyer" probably couldn't get the funds together for it to show up again so quickly. I'm sure the ad is put back up by the last seller.
I like that sliding hatch idea!

Re: MacGregor 19
Boat prices are stupid right now! I had put one of my Mac 26D's up to trade for a Mac 19 or for sale for $8000 Canadian last fall. (I have a couple.) Covid messed up my repair plans for the other 26D so I ended up sailing the one I was going to sell this summer. I've had lots of interest to buy the ...

Re: MacGregor 19
Great question Jimmy.... I haven't seen it in person yet. I'm in London Ontario and it's in South Western Nova Scotia. (About a 22 hr drive one way.) I've tried to hire two different people to haul it to Ontario for me but they both flaked out at the last minute. So I called the local yacht club and...

Re: MacGregor 19
That Blue Mac 19 sold again. I like the sliding hatch idea.
Has anyone here done this to theirs? How about a pop top modification?
I'd like to do both and would love some direction.

Re: MacGregor 19
It's the same boat. I think it sold for around $7k last time. Someone is just flipping it. I took some screen grabs of it last time it was on eBay so I can replacate to the sliding hatch on my new 19. Has anyone got any ideas on how to make the lifting/ tilting hatch cover into a poptop? I'd like to...

Re: 3 Guesses. First 2 don't count.
Thanks guys! That degree in Fine Art is really working out well for me. LOL! (I did study Fine Art in College and University.) I plan to glass over this rudder and test it next year on the Mac26D. Im not sure I can keep a point on the end of this one as I trailer this boat a lot. I know it will get ...

Re: 3 Guesses. First 2 don't count.
That would work Jimmy. I've been working on a design loosely based on the 0012 shape. (Loosely because I'm shaping this by hand!) I'm almost ready for glass. Just have to make the pivot hole and the raising / lowering holes. I want to make them larger than needed so I can bolt through without any wo...

Re: 3 Guesses. First 2 don't count.
" Now if you add a flap to the daggerboard so it creates lift without an AOA the hull will point true and has less drag. Another way without a flap... if the D/B rotates so it creates an AOA, you also reduce the drag on the hull." VRB A flap? so the DB changes shape to more of a airplane w...

Re: 3 Guesses. First 2 don't count.
Nice design. I may have to copy that for my 26D. It is pretty heavy coming up. The biggest problem I have when raising the DB is the safety rope getting caught between the DB and the trunk. I'm not sure there is a quick fix for that. One thing I've noticed with my DB is that it changes position when...

Re: 3 Guesses. First 2 don't count.
I took a mold off my DB on my Mac 26D. It's not too hard to copy the DB even if you don't have all of it. It's symmetrical. Just do part and when it's cured flip it over and do the other end. I use modeling clay to fill any voids or holed. Clear packing tape works great for holes too. Fiberglass doe...

Re: MacGregor 19
Good eye Tom! Yes it is an original trailer. Know for being just like dragging a chain when it's empty. The only problem I've had with an original trailer is keeping the lights on it. They bounce so much the light brackets break off! The simple and illegal solution is to mount the lights to the fend...

Re: MacGregor 19
I got one! Almost. It's a 95 in the last 100 made. (If they only made 1000) It's due to arrive Wed. The 2020 Covid restrictions are a pain to deal with. The boat is in Nova Scotia. (Atlantic Covid bubble) I'm in Ontario... I can't go pick it up. I did find a guy to bring it here next week though. He...

Re: MacGregor 19
Thanks for the input. It's good to get info from owners. I've never even been on a 19. But I know it's what I want to replace my Siren17 with. I have a 26D and love the layout except... No table. I've sails a 26x a couple times and really like the layout. The 19 is perfect for me and my wife. Or mos...
