I bought the "intake valve" pins from BWY last year, but they wouldn't fit. So they are still in the bag. Now I know. I'll be drilling soon.

My PO rigged colored lines aft. The main halyard is green, the jib halyard is red (I don't use, since I have a furler. can be used for safety forestay tied to the bow pulpit.) But he did use white line with red flecks for the jib. I am thinking about using white with green flecks for stbd jibsheet, ...

I have a hard time keeping my mast light on due to corrosion. I have the two pin version with each pin slit down the middle. I have to take a flat head screwdriver to gently spread apart the pins so they will have better contact when plugged in. Maybe you have the same split pins?

When I bought my Mac 26X used, it didn't have a bow stop, so I went down to Wal-Mart and purchased the standard black bow stop. I have done the Mac bump several times, sometimes with success, other times without, it was always a few inches short. One recommendation on this board has been to LOOSEN t...

with lines led aft, I just point the boat into the wind, run up and rip off the 3 velcro sail ties, and jump back in the cockpit. Then I just put a couple of turns on the winch and winch up the main from the cockpit. I usually have the motor running just past idle to keep heading into the wind and i...

My previous owner rigged lines aft and COLORED. My main halyard is green, jib halyard is red (not used due to furling). My main sheet is blue, and the jib sheets are white with red specks. There is no way to grab the wrong line this way. I am even considering using 2 jib sheets: white with green spe...

Frank, Sounds like you need the winch off of the new Macgregor 26M pole. Since I have the 26M mast for my 26X, I bought the 26M raising kit. The winch I have does not have the flip switch like the trailer winch. Instead, it has some sort of braking clutch. When raising the mast, I can just stop and ...

In Florida, you are only required to pay sales tax on the boat and trailer. If you have an itemized invoice, you can save a good bit on the sales tax. When I bought my used boat, I had the seller start with the agreed upon price and subtract the value of the additionals: motor, safety equipment, etc.

I have a furler but no UV protection yet. I am considering the jib sock. Can you guys give me several referrals to some places that sell them? I think I would want a zipper vs. snaps.

The 26X that I bought has the 26M rotating mast, so the sail is a little bit bigger. The sail has full battens and I can stow it in my sail cover, although it is not the standard Mac cover, so I'm not sure of the differences in sizes. I only have sail slugs on the main, but I have the main halyard l...

It sometimes amazes me how topics on this board evolve and mutate into an entirely different topic. This has to be one of the extremes (even though the 2 are closely inter-related activities) I have never heard of Oberon, but seeing as it is sold year-round in Florida, and I travel almost the entire...

It looks like the white/white is standard Macgregor wiring and my Red/yellow is after market installati...

Phillip, Your setup looks correct except for the angle of the gin pole. It should be more vertical as many responders have posted. To do this, just lengthen the line from your bow cleat to the top of the gin pole. To see the proper angle go to the Macgregor website, table of contents, then "mas...

If you follow the link to the factory website, there are several pictures of the new trailer. I like the idea that it doesn't have the metal bars on each side of the bow stop. Can't tell you how many black paint marks I got on my bow. It shows the bunk layout and clearly not suitable for the X. I ca...

I just made my first attempt at gelcoat repair last weekend. I used Evercoat gel coat repair kit from West Marine. Came with several colors to mix in, although I only needed white. I just mixed it in as directed, filled the scratches, scraped smooth and applied the provided cellophane sheet to cure....
