15HP on Mac 26S
I am about to upgrade from 5HP to a larger engine...a slightly used 15 HP is available for sale...what do you "all" think about a 15HP Tohastu electric start/125 lbs on a Mac S. I use the engine in forward motion only..using the tiller to turn. The 9.8 Tohastu is about 85 lbs, so 50 lbs mo...

Re: Spreader boot-Black Plastic Spreader Tips
Thank all for the comments...I did locate the black plastic spreader tips from Blue Water..I tried emailing them, but no reply. I heard the factory replacements were aluminium and much better. Note: These items are an important component and having a spare or two would be prudent. Thanks again all/J...

Spreader boot-Black Plastic Spreader Tips
I have attempted to find online the black tip spreader "boots" which allows the movement and support for the lines supporting the upper mast. I bought "spreader boots" at West Marine in Key West, but these will not suffice to maintain support and control. I would assume MacGregor...

Re: Key West NAS Launch Ramp
The launch ramp at NAS Key West..Boca Chica Marina is apparently designed for shallow draft boats. It appears from the photos I saw that MacGregors could launch only ( it would appear from the photo)...at high tide. The marina was dredged and there is a significant drop off an unknown distance from ...

Re: Key West..Any Mac's Owners in the Area!
The Banana River and Indian River which are part of the huge "lake" adjacent to Patrick AFB's marina is great for sailing. But, I would like to enjoy the water from a diving standpoint..or just hanging out on the beach. Besides, there might be buried treasure which has yet to discovered .....

Maximum Engine Size: 1995 Mac S Model
I just bought the boat..and will be returning to Florida in a month to move it down to Key West Naval Air Station. Question(s): What is the maximum size for an engine for the MacGregor S model? ( The boat came with a 5 HP Tohastu (internal gas tank and no battery charging option-about 60 lbs).. I ha...

Re: Porti P--What is the best with pump out option..
Thanks for the spirited feedback...The trigger to the inquiry was a modification done to allow pumping out the portable toilet. It appears they are made for either pumping (using a pump hose plus a separate vent hose) or allowing to take it to an acceptable location to dispose of the contents. Try A...

Porti P--What is the best with pump out option..
Seeking recommendations from seasoned "users" of "Porti P's" on the Mac's. I just bought a boat (S model) and from reading a number of modifications, several of you have installed a pump out option with your PP. Could anyone recommend a PP model that easily allows a pump out (onl...

Re: Key West..Any Mac's Owners in the Area!

Re: Key West..Any Mac's Owners in the Area!
Thought it might be prudent to contact those in the area to shorten the "uptime" learning the basics...and to review some of the modifications many of you have done on your boats. Unfortunately, I will have to leave around the 12th of December.
Thanks again
