Re: 96X ballast vent assembly

Interesting, I’m going to bond this to a zinc and keel strap.I’m sure galvanic current plus partially sealed stainless broke the bolt from the weld on the plate. The keel strap broke several years ago.its probably ready to be changed again.

96X ballast vent assembly

Howdy all!
The all thread valve midship under the step seems to be ready for replacement, I’m looking for info about this assembly, I don’t see any thread with this so far, please help ! I found it was broke when showing it to a buyer, moderately embarrassed about it.

Re: Midship cleats

Thought of that . winch is a temp fix. Lines interfere with boarding and sun tarp and lines rub rigging . I'm shooting for a quick release type of line attachment. Just stable enough for 50 mph winds. If I expect higher wind speed the ol shoelace trick will appear ha! Almost considering a couple car...

Re: Midship cleats

I've always had an easy time docking using a long bow line ran outside to the cockpit. Then you only need to get the stern close and hop off with 2 lines in hand.
Timing was key. Wind n current etc.
A Midship cleat would make a rookie look like a pro though!

Re: Midship cleats

Aw good idea !!!!
Wondering why I didn't think of that!
My main use for midship cleats would be for spring line type stabilization at dock.
I'm sure I'll find a million other uses.
Thanks!

Midship cleats

Howdy all!
Been a while since I've been here.
Any chance anyone has installed any midship cleats on their 26x?
I just did some tapping around and it doesn't feel like any good spot are available without some minor glasswork for pressure distribution.
Suggestions? :macx:

X keel haul complete!!

I did get ahold of BWY and they worked with me well! I got the keel bracket and had it installed the next day. I now see why the bracket that was on there came off! the pin that holds the bracket to the keel is just that , a pin. when the bolt that holds the bracket to the boat broke , the pin got b...

Re: single-handing

I'm finding myself doing a lot of single-handing. I am having a heckuva time tacking. Throw the bungie over the wheel to keep it on track, go forward of the pedestal, take the loaded sheet down to one turn on the winch, (inadvertantly easing it several inches in the process), grab the lazy sheet, b...

Re: swing keel hanger bolt broken

HI Don T thanks! brackets are easier to fab than bent bolts. I dont do marinas much if possible. and never use shore power when I do . I have solar panels for all my needs(which isnt much) . I just got the barnacles off the work area. will lower the keel after a break. maybe the pin fell out. will u...

swing keel hanger bolt broken

Howdy All! yesterday i discovered enroute that my swing keel hanger bolt had broken while at anchor. no problem since i didnt let it all the way out when sailing . I made it to my next anchorage and got a look at the set up. It looks like one bolt on the top of the keel trunk. since this is the only...
