Chuck, We had a cover on the bimini on our X. It is extra cost. Give Gail a call and she can get you one. We had the backstay rub holes in ours till we learned to push out the backstay when folding it up. We took the bimini back to BWY (We live in Seattle) and their canvas guy sewed leather patches ...

David, You may have a Dutchman furler. If so, check around for the local distrubutor for info on how to remove the sail. On some systems you have to remove the furler (ie. drop the mast). On others a fitting attached to the head of the sail slides up and down the foil allowing you to drop the sail w...

My impression is the Dowsar is a bit nicer than the BWY and you would not go wrong with it; however the BWY is a bit cheaper. With the changing exchange rates Canadian goods are not as inexpensive as they were just a few years ago. As I mentioned before it might be possible to get special features a...

We had the BWY full enclosure on our M and liked it very much. Since we use our boat year-round up here and it is known to rain occasionally, it was very functional. Easy to motor with the full enclosure on. To motor or sail in sunny weather we took off the side curtains and folded the top back out ...

Bite the bullet and buy the BWY ladder. Todd has custom designed it with parts from several sources. For example the ladder legs are different lengths to compensate for the rise in the sheer of the X and M. It snaps right onto the Genny track and works like a champ. We had several cheaper ladders th...

Flag Etiquet
We just finished a section of a course on this subject and learned: 1. Chip's original post is correct for virtually everywhere in the world. 2. In the US at least there is no law that dictates where the flags are flown but there is very strong tradition among sailors that was described by Chip. 3. ...

Battery Cost
Frank C. I looked and can't find the receipts and I can't remember the cost. Both the Trojan and the Dyno are available in Seattle area. Dyno is at Fisheries Supply. Memory has it that both were more expensive than the discount sources. At one time BWY had a write up on why they prefered the flooded...

We have had excellent results with Trojan batteries. Best to buy from a dealer that has a lot of turnover. Fresher is better.
Our best results in two boats come from two 6 volt batteries wired in series for 12 volts. Using the Dyno D145 we get 245 amp/hrs.
