Re: MacTrawler Avatar
On the line of converting to a trawler or motoring with the mast down or more specifically removed, I've always had the question about the stern light (on the X anyway) being tall enough to be legal. I once raised this question in a boating safety class and the DNR officer basically agreed but said ...

Re: Mounting CDI to mast hound
Excuse my ignorance but is the mast hound the connection on where the forestay connects to the bow? Finally got my mast raised and I have about a three inch gap between the end of the CDI and the connector at the bow, It seems I should have some means of adjusting tension at this point. I ordered th...

Chicago Sailer Aquaintence and Rigging Help Appreciated
We have had our MacGregor for two years and have just been motoring and we love it but besides mounting mast and checking rigging we have not sailed. My wife says sail or sell??? After various mods and new motor .... I modified the raising pole with the winch ( idea from this great site) mounted the...

Re: Standing Rigging Tension?
Along this line. I raised my mast for the first time since I bought my 26x and the front stay is about 3 inches too short to tie down. The mast seems to have a slight bow/bend aftward. one of the upper stays is loose as well. After reading this post, I guess I'll be buying a tension gauge. My bigger...

Re: Mast Wiring?
Along the subject of mast wiring, I am mounting the mast for the first time, after two years of motoring, mods and repairs, and noticed a broken white and green pin connector at the foot of the mast .Does anyone have a pinout or diagram of the connector and recommendation for repair. Also, I would l...

Re: Tire size question
Im not ready for two axles yet. After reading all the treads about the under sizes tires 215/15/14 I wanted to upgrade my old tires. I tthink its funny that I went from Chicago to Maryland on the original tires 2002 without any problems. I guess, call me lucky. BNG like you my 2002 trailer is in pr...

Cool. I would be interested in your plan for mounting also ie bow roller etc. Looks like it's a smart design more economical and light weight.

Re: Manson Supreme Anchor Purchase
What size did you get? Must say it is quite a bit lighter and less than half the price (which I am sure the first mate would appreciate) of than the 25lb recommended by Manson. How is it working so far?

Re: Manson Supreme Anchor Purchase
Thanks for your replies. We are located in Chicago, plan to primarily sail in inland and sheltered water but spend a lot of time on Lake Michigan. Of course Lake Michigan has been known for "sea like" weather and rapid changing conditions. Our health is good but sometimes my wife may have ...

Manson Supreme Anchor Purchase
Does anyone use the Manson (or Ranca) Supreme anchor. I want to buy a second anchor and was at the Strictly Sail show in Chicago. The Manson Supreme anchor caught my eye for holding and setting dynamics. The 15 lb is good up to a 25ft boat and the 25lb is good for up to a 35 foot boat. Being that th...

Honda water pump replacement
Finally Got my 2002x and Honda 50 out for the first time after buying it and of course the water pump is shot. I have read that it is fairly easy to change the propeller/pump. Any recommendations on where to get a good shop manual and parts online would be appreciated. Also, how do you determine if ...
