Something else that I find helpful is to lower the front end of the trailer and gravity will help in raising the mast and keep it inplace while you secure the forestay. I learned this the hard way with my Hobie when it fell backwards on top of me once! I always have a helper when setting up the boat...

Having sailed for about 35 years now, I believe each day out is an education. My 1st day out with my Dad when I was a kid, we ran the boat aground on the jetty rocks just accross from about 50 people at the Yacht Club and had to be towed in by onlookers. We had a few scuffs on the hull and out pride...

Boarding Ladder Handle
It seems like I remember seeing a mod where someone added a handle on the stern of their Mac so, I went out and found a great deal on a S.S. handle about 8 inches long. The other day I started preping the boat for a Spring launch and can't seem to find a way to add a backing plate about a foot above...

Lewmar 32" folding wheel
I am considering installing a Lewmar 32" folding wheel on my 2005 M. I thought I saw some commentary on this idea on another post. Has anyone actually installed one and are they happy with it?

:macm: I was also suprised to see the ad last night when I picked up the latest issue. My thought is that Roger is anticipating a slow down in orders with the economy slowing and is attempting to maintain a production level that provides the highest efficiency. If he truely is limited by the state i...

I took delivery of a new 2005 M April of 2005 and was quite disappointed. As the dealer was preping the boat, I noticed a 1 foot square area on the starboard side by the windows where the gel coat had been repaired :( . The repair was incomplete and looked pretty bad. My dealer called the factory an...

I have a 1971 Venture 15 that I picked up from a friend a few years ago. It must be the oldest one still afloat! I had a replacement tramp made by a friend that manufactures trampolines and have put about $100 into new hardware and sheets over the years. It rides a little low in the water but my kid...

Full Batten Sail
I mostly sail the fresh water lakes at high altitude in Utah and have been considering a battened sail with a bowed top or square top (full roach I think it is called) for the light winds we have most of the time. This would give me more square footage on the main but, I am concerned about how it ma...

Prop Sizing
Thanks everyone for the great input. I am planning on trying out props in the 13P to 15P range. I plan on installing a Raymarine DS400 fishfinder/Knot meter/Depth sounder this spring and will check to see which prop gives me the highest speed at 4500' and at sea level this summer. One concern I have...
