Re: Pictures taken from your MacGregor
I am going to cheat ... the picture is not taken FROM the Mac, but, almost. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7386/9772157074_2cb3100a3d_z.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5331/9793504643_9ab21d756b_o.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5331/9793504643_8e2305062b_z.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5331/...

Re: Evinrude Etec 60 bought from MacGregor with my boat 2012
Same comments here. I've had my Mac for two years now and I am impressed by the whole package. I took the boat from Miami to Bimini in horrendous weathers and the tiny little E-Tec purred for 7 hours without ever making a blip. It starts with half a rev and even with low batteries. Consumption is gr...

I might be available as well. A Tortugas trip has been on my mind for quite some time.

Re: Twin Asymmetrical daggerboards
Ok ... I am a little lost in this one ... If I am on port tack the boat heels to starboard right? So if I wanted the apply a force on the dagger board in order to straighten the boat I would apply the force on the port side of the dagger board right? But if I designed a foil that would apply a force...

Emergency rudder systems
Hello, I have had my Mac for a year and I am starting to venture further and further. I went to Bimini this fall and intend to go back as often as possible. From reading the forum posts I am starting to get the feeling that one of the likely failures that I am likely to incur is steering. Many of yo...

Re: Trailer Lights ... Arrrggghhhh
I bought LED lights at West Marine two summers ago, back them into the river without disconnecting and they've held up just fine. I also had a ground lug welded to the trailer. Since then, I've avoided a lot of lights work, lights don't work stress. Hmmmm ... Just as I was looking for an excuse to ...

Trailer Lights ... Arrrggghhhh
Hello everyone, I've had my new Mac for a little over a year. The original trailer lights went out after a few months so I replaced them with "submersible" LED clusters that I found where available in several stores including Pep Boys, Wall Mart and Auto Zone. Although I have been discipli...

Been to Bimini ... and have quite a few adventures in the queue.

Re: Handheld VHF Questions...
I bought a Uniden Atlantis 250 from West Marine. The reason I chose this radio was that it came with two battery packs. One was the regular pack and the other one was an empty shell that I can fill with batteries. This was an important feature because I always have spare batteries with me and in cas...

Re: Crossing to Bimini on November 6th
Thanks for your report. How big would you estimate the waves were on your way over to Bimini? I am not sure I could guess accurately, CH1 called for 8 to 12 ft. They didn't look quite so bad when they were coming at you, it was when they passed you that you realized that they were indeed quite big ...

Re: Crossing to Bimini on November 6th
Sounds like fun. I haven't been over there for about 22 years. It was pretty cheap to check in with customs and immigration. We left Key Largo and checked in at Cat Cay. I think it was 5 bucks a head. I heard they are charging by the boat. What was the cost for checking in with them? Now they charg...

Re: Crossing to Bimini on November 6th
There is a very fine line between bravery and stupidity ... but I have to say I am very proud of how I handled the ordeal. Most proud though, I am of Andrea, who braved the crossing with her signature smile. She's a keeper!!!

Re: Crossing to Bimini on November 6th
Hello everyone, We made it to Bimini and back safe and sound. It was a fantastic trip! The crossing on the way out was quite extreme as we had a VERY strong NE wind. As soon as we got on the open water and saw the size of the waves and the strength of the wind we decided that we would keep on going ...

Re: Put My Deposit Down On A Slip Today
I trailer ... Out here in Miami it's simply not economically feasible to keep the boat in the water.
The only other option is to keep the boat with the mast up on trailer close to Key Largo for about $140/month.
There are a fair number of advantages to trailering ... I am happy with it.
