Small Boat Pedestal Obsession Though we know ‘Wheel’/pedestal steering on a small boat appears more like a Mattel toy option than a marine designers would prefer to be remembered. The wheel power advantage makes steering possible, without a very long tiller on large yachts. Placing the large pedest...

We much prefer the “Tiller” for Sailing. The Cockpit would be much bigger for sailing and crew movement on tacks. The Wheel at the Bulkhead with controls makes an improved motoring helm, and avoids the soaking with the pedestal aft. Classic Boating Stuff http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c359/YouYo...

It’s difficult to feel any feedback from the push/pull small wheel cable steering for sailing, especially in light air?

Delevi I never sniveled like a “Mama’s Boy!” when Mac2 linked this with my ‘wife’ in the photo, on this board, evaluating his proper loos gauge rig tension. If it makes things better I’ll offer my apology for linking to your posted photo…hope it makes you feel better? Again … you posted the photo…

Delevi The post was not to find fault with your first-rate Quantum Fusion Sails, but to bring back the fact ‘Furling~Reefing’ systems cause an unavoidable forestay sag. Furler Reefing is bad for many reasons…including windage, poor shape, new tack reefed sail weak point, lack of reefed luff tension...

Surely were aware of a furlers harmful weight aloft and significant effect on the headsail shape and performance, further compromising a powersailor well known problems sailing to weather. Nice Post Terry ; You’ve on coarse… Dump the marginal CDI-system Capt! Everyone knows how primitive and poor performing the CDI system. ***If you must…go with a furling system, purchase one with a head swivel, allowing foresail changes and adjustable luff tension for conditions. Another Choice… the...
