Re: Sailboat Capsize in San Diego (Merged Topics)
It's looking now like "Nessie" may have been a MacGregor 25, so the focus may be on whether the drop-down cast-iron-ballasted centerboard was cranked down and secured with a locking bolt or whether it might have had some terrible failure. It might be possible that ten people moving around...

Re: MacGregor 25 Questions: towing / outboard
I don't see why the S10 would not pull it short distances as you suggest, but retrieving the boat may be a bit hairy, especially if the ramp is at all steep. My very strong opinion is that this is a boat you will want to keep in a slip if at all possible. They are a real pita to rig and unrig, launc...

The shrouds and stays should all be tensioned and not loose. When sailing on one tack or the other, based on what I read, the leew...

Re: Painting deck
Yeah, the stuff is really flaked off of there. I don't plan on doing it this year, but next, before putting it into the water. I picked up some hull cleaner from walmart, its called Seasense, and contains oaxalic acid, same thing in Starbrite, and works great. Half the price of Starbrite, though. :)

Painting deck
I just picked up an O'Day 22 that has some cosmetic issues, most notably the deck paint being worn down/off. How big a job is refinishing the deck? Anyone know of a good resource for doing this job? http://www.flickr.com/photos/37113141@N02/4774598430/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/37113141@N02/47739...
