Re: Broken mast for Mac 25 - very clean break

John, that's an interesting offer. Does anyone who knows want to weigh in on the differences/similarities between Mac 25 vs 26 masts?

Also, what happens when the mast of a Steelers fan nears the saiboat of a Bengals fan? We don't want any brawls on the boat....

Re: Considering trolling motor in place of 10 hp Mercury

After an entire summer using a 55-lb-thrust trolling motor instead of a gas-powered outboard, I'd have to call the experiment a success, at least for my particular situation. The best parts were being able to forget about gasoline all summer long and never tugging on pull-cords! The solar changer I ...

Re: Broken mast for Mac 25 - very clean break

Located in SW Ohio. Since posting yesterday, I've found that it's at least possible to acquire a new mast that's already slotted and drilled (Blue Water Yachts - 800-688-8626x3). No idea yet what the cost is, or the freight cost from Seattle, but it's good to know there are new ones available, since...

Re: Dismasted this past weekend.

tlgibson97, this past weekend we were towing our Mac 25 from an unfamiliar, impromptu boat ramp to its winter resting spot when we tangled with a power line we did not see. Only the radio antenna atop the mast struck the wires (we think), but the mast snapped cleanly at the spreader bolts. Sounds to...

Broken mast for Mac 25 - very clean break

This past weekend we were pulling our boat from a impromptu boat ramp to its winter storage parking site when we hit power lines that we missed seeing due to all the fall foliage (that's my story, sticking to it). The marine antenna atop the mast appears to be what actually struck the lines, but the...

Re: Considering trolling motor in place of 10 hp Mercury

Deeseas, good point, but the Marina just rebuilt the docks last summer and they gave us all the same slips. As long as I send in my hard-earned cash every year on time, the nice slip stays mine!

Mastreb, good idea, I'll let y'all know how it goes later on this summer.

Re: Considering trolling motor in place of 10 hp Mercury

So far, all of the 4hp used motors I've located in this area are short-shaft models and I'll need a 30" shaft. Didn't think to mention in the original post that my slip is the last one on the dock, and so to put it back into its slip I only need get the boat to the outside of the dock, which is...

Considering trolling motor in place of 10 hp Mercury

Hi all. Does anyone have any experiences to share regarding using only a light-duty trolling motor to motivate a 25-foot Mac in and out of its slip? I'm fed up with my old 10 hp outboard and its tempermental ways, and prices for new (and therefore reliable) motors of similar power are, well, close t...
